I don't know about you, but moving from OS 9 to OS X... well, I've never quite gotten the full hang of it. I was master of OS 9.
You can pitch your prefs on launch of AE without having to dig through your system folder for the preference file. Just hold down shift-option-command while you click your After Effects icon in your dock or elsewhere. You'll get a pop-up window asking if you'd really like to trash your prefs.
This works with other programs too. If there's a PC equivalent, please add it to the comments below. Heck, any good tips are welcome!
