Adobe to support MacIntel's in 2007

2/02/2006 Permalink • •
I know a lot of you are Mac users and if you're hanging out at Toolfarm, you're probably a user of Adobe software.

Adobe has stated that their next major release of products will support the new Universal Binary format and run on the Intel-based Macs. Great. However, this upgrade may not be out until 2007. Adobe didn't supply any release dates though, vaguely stating 8 to 14 months. The Mac Observer says October at the earliest. Apple Insider thinks 2007.

I guess 2007 that isn't really that far away though. It seems like time moves faster and faster as I get older.

You can run apps like Photoshop on these new MacIntels using a Rosetta emulator, as Steve Jobs did at MacWorld last month. He did say that performance wouldn't be as good and some tasks wouldn't work. Adobe says that all of it's apps will run using Rosetta but may be clunky and unpredictable.

MacNN has an article about all of this, or get it straight from the horse's mouth.
