Toolfarm's Blog: After Effects Resources

After Effects Resources

3/08/2006 Permalink • •

We'd love to be the resource everyone comes to first with their After Effects and plug-in questions, but let's be realistic: the web is a huge place with a growning number of great resources. So, I thought I'd share some resources that I've visited and thought were useful. Don't forget to check out Toolfarm's tutorials!

Tutorials and Articles

  • Motionworks - John Dickinson's terrific site with some cool tutorials. If you're looking for Zaxwerks 3D Invigorator help, this is a great site to visit.
  • Ayato@Web - Slick projects from Ayato Fujii, a designer from Tokyo. He doesn't share his project files, but his work is very cool.
  • DMN After Effects Channel and DMN After Effects Techniques news feed - Awesome tutorials by Ko Maruyama and Stephen Schleicher.
  • Ko's Tutorials - Ko has Cinema 4D, AE and XFrog tutorials
  • CyberMotion - Chris and Trish Meyer's site. This page is an archive of articles and tutorials that they created for DV Magazine.
  • After Effects Portal - Links to all things after effects. There has recently been a big update to the site, too. There's quite a lot of great information here.
  • Adobe Studio Exchange - Download tutorials, scripts, presets and plug-ins for free. You can share your goodies too

Expressions

  • JJ Gifford's Expressions in After Effects - This site hasn't been updated in years, but it is still a great resource for expressions.
  • MotionScript - Dan Ebbert's resource for AE scripting and expressions. This guy is a mathematical genius or something.
  • AE Enhancers - A forum with lots of script tutorials and scripts for you to use.

Forums, Mailing Lists and News Groups

  • Toolfarm's Forum - Get help from experts in the field. This is a great place to post your plug-in related questions, but we can handle anything. You don't need to log-in to post, either.
  • After Effects Mail List - The big list that you MUST be on.
  • DMN's Adobe After Effects Forum - Get expert help from really smart AE users, like Ko and Stephen S.
  • Post Forum - I used to visit this one all the time but I haven't lately. It's a terrific resource though with great minds like Dan Ebberts sharing their knowledge.
  • After Effects Yahoo! Group - Not as well known but there aer almost 1,300 members on the list. I actually ran into a guy I went to junior high with on that list, I kid you not. He moved away when I was in 7th grade. Hi Harry!

Of course there are lots more resources out there. You're welcome to add them in the comments below.
