ProDAD Mercalli- Image Stabilization Plug-ins Released

1/30/2008 Permalink 2 Comments share on linkedin
ProDad ProDAD Mercalli is a plug-in that lets you stabilize shaky footage during post processing. Mercalli detects and distinguishes between intended movements, such as panning or zoom shots, and unintended shocks and shakes. Simple and easy to use, and comes in two versions: Pro and Light. Both versions also include "Video-Shaker", which adds shake to a shot, and is ideal for scenes that previously appeared too sterile or for adding extra movement. Available for Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro and Elements, Avid Liquid and Sony Vegas.

A good stabilising program rescues often a useless shaking clip.
I am amazed about the quick rendering and easy intuitive use of the many adjustments. In addition it is nice to see the visualisation during analysing the clips.

While their product worked great, their customer service was atrocious. Registering the product was a nightmare, especially if you use a web-based e-mail account. I have never used a product that it more difficult to register. They provide no contact information, in-fact the “Customer Care” number listed on support website goes to a sales center who claim they have no access to technical support, not even contact info. After a couple of weeks I was finally able to get an email address for a person at the company and they did get me the license, but sent insulting e-mails in the process claiming that they had sent the license multiple times.
Avoid anything made by Pro Dad!
