Topaz Clean v2 is a new Photoshop plug-in from Topaz Labs that combines feature-preserving smoothing, edge smoothing, and texture control into one filter designed to provide refinable artistic image manipulation.

A longtime well-respected member of the DPReview Retouching forum, artist Kent Christiansen finds the texture and edge accentuation features in Topaz Clean particularly interesting:





The first image depicts the original photo taken by photographer vidal. The second image was created by Kent using the SkinEven preset in Clean 2. Notice that while the distracting blemishes are completely removed, the minute skin detail is well-preserved. The third image was stylized using Kent's own AnimeSim preset. In his words, "Clean 2 has a variety of effects. The 'skineven' preset can be used as a one click fix but the sliders allow maximum flexibility from the original look to 'high fashion' and everything in between."

Like most other Topaz filters, Topaz Clean 2 is applicable in a variety of creative ways.
