Wow, two U2 videos up here in the span of as many weeks! This one seems to be an official video. Steve Audette posted it to the AE List, so thanks for the tip! This is some really amazing editing.

The White Stripes, the Clash, The Beatles and David Bowie are all shown in the montage and they just happen to be four of my top 10 all time favorite bands. I'm going to give the best lip-sync award to Elvis.

Speaking of lip-sync, do you remember that 80s show, "Puttin' on the Hits"? That just popped into my head. I remember a guy doing Endless Love by Lionel Richie and Diana Ross and was half man/half woman.

My After Effects students had their final projects due today. Heiner Twenhafel, a motion graphics student, created this phenomenal video. Yes, the footage is from a U2 concert and, no, he didn't shoot it, but the editing and the effects are timed perfectly and are absolutely captivating.

As Dewey Finn says, "One great rock show can change the world..." The other students in the class were darn lucky that Heiner showed his project last.

I first saw this Intro for the 2005 Midwest AICP Awards at the 2006 Chicago Motion Graphics Festival. I have their wonderful DVD and can watch it in it's full amazingness, but I'm sorry, all I can offer you is this small little window. It's awe-inspiring though.

From Drumb.tv: "Done in my last days at Optimus, this piece was a fun challenge. Trying to puppeteer 3D shadow puppets in a convincing way and still deliver a crapload of logos. I was responsible for the first third of the open, which I did in 3DSMax 7.5. Jeremy Stuart and Patrick Coleman comped it all in After Effects. We shot the paper and the shadowy figures at the end and the rest was either 3D, After Effects, or Flame. My favorite part, KONG!"
