Fighterplane is a beautiful, complex video with lots of layers and nice lighting effects. I love how they composited the video and flat art layers. Nice camera moves too. The video was directed by zeroh. The song is great, too. All around, it's awesome.

Who can resist a KISS cover with a sweet, breathy female vocals? I can't! Michael Fragstein's video for I Was Made for Loving You has a vector graphic over textured background kinda look. Nothing really new in the video (Barry, anyone?), It's animated and flows nicely and there are some interesting 3D moves, especially down the stairs. I don't really think the video and the song go together and I don't get the symbolism of the watering cans. I do like the song... a lot. The song brings up a feeling of a Montmarte cafe. I would've done a street scene with a woman at a cafe sipping a glass of Coteau du Layon as she sings about the man of her dreams.

I never thought maggots could be so cute! This 3D animated piece shows the life of a maggot who becomes a fly and has to fight for the last little pea. It's really adorible and clever and so well done. That little fly went all Macauley Caulkin on those other flies.

I was talking to Tony Griffin who is one of the guys who runs the Thriller! Chiller! Festival in Grand Rapids, MI. He told me about a Michigan film maker and digital animator, Dan Land, who would be speaking at the festival about his film, Dirty Trousers, discussing techniques used by featuring before and after clips of his film as examples of digital animation using Adobe After Effects. (Michigan, represent!)

I was very suprised when I saw the trailer. It has a film noir feel, in black and white with spot color and lots of old film effects. It looks freakin' awesome.

If you're interested in checking out the film and filmmakers, the presentation is at the Wealthy Theatre, Saturday, October 27, 2007, 11:30am and $5 will get you in the door. I'm hoping I can interview the filmmaker or tape his presentation and put it on the website. More on the Thriller! Chiller! Festival. They're playing Black Sheep on Friday night!

Directed by the Pleix Collective, Itsu video has lots of motion 'info graphics' (like you see in USA Today) and green screen shots of the board room. It's very clever how they mixed overt sexuality with charts about the pork industry. Mmmmm, bacon.

The song Dear Honey is very cool and reminds me a bit of the quirkiness Split Enz with the Irish influence of Victoria, BC's Shilaleigh.

The video, directed by Jurassic Technolgy, is unbelievably cool. The color effects are deep and gorgeous. There are lots of awesome effects and the compositing is surreal. The whole video is surreal. I love it!

The Arcade Fire presents is an interactive video for the song Neon Bible from The Arcade Fire, a band that I really love.

Directed by Vincent Morisset, this piece is brilliant and clever and so different from the usual. It's Actionscript wizardry at it's finest. I have a feeling this video will trigger a wave of new interactive videos and rekindle the world's love of the art form known as music video, kind of like Guitar Hero has given the world a whole new appreciation for Deep Purple. Before long we will have peace in the Middle East. Thank you Vincent Morisset.
