Videos get moved and pulled all of the time and it's tough to keep them updated. Please email us if you find a dead link with the URL of the posting. If you know where there is a working link, even better! Thanks a million!
Spleen United's My Tribe was directed by Goodboy Creative. It has a very cool effect where the people are turned into transparent glass. How do you think this was done? Please post a comment.
This reminds me a bit of the 'Invisible Man' project by Alan Hamill. Alan came to one of our MCA-I meetings a few years ago and walked everyone through the project. Very cool indeed.
Here's an interesting site, with some of the more freakish films that messed me up in my college art history and film courses- all in one convenient location!
Yes, this isn't new, but it was posted up at Axiomsun a couple of weeks ago and it's such a cool video. Amazing compositing and sexy robots. Say no more!
This ad for an animation contest is awesome. The song is catchy and the animation is fun and clever. They give some good advice too.... don't skimp on audio. This really makes me want to enter! The deadline is January 8, 2008.
A cute animation for Starbucks from Wieden + Kennedy featuring a girl in snowshoes who gives a bear a bear hug. The music is by Badly Drawn Boy called 'I Love N.Y.E.'.
Mika's new video Lollipop was created by Bonzom, a Toulouse, France based animation collective. The video is very colorful and has the feel of Japanese animation. It's so much fun!
Check out this beautiful video, Marry You by Super Junior, a Korean boy band with 13 members. The video is pretty dang amazing... done by Heebok Lee, who also did titles for Spider Man 3, Smokin' Aces and Ghost Rider, as well as commercials, short films and poster design. Lee's work is so good.
The song is a bit sacchariney but there's a lot of cute Korean boys in the video, if you're into that type of thing. :-)
This video is over a year old but I seem to have missed it the first time around. There's a bluish guy who walks around the city in his thong and has a television flicker effect on him. It's a really neat effect. When he walks by walls, they react. Then he meets a guy just like him and they fight. Then he dances. The song features John Garcia (Kyuss). Directed by Gore Verbinski.
A really interesting mix of styles in the song, but the video is intense and riveting! Lots of 3D and match moving. It's creepy! Directed by Benjamin Steiger Levine. Thanks Johnny B. for the link.
Harry Frank sent me the link to this beautiful piece from Wow, a Japanese agency and collective. This was presented during Tokyo Design Week. This beautiful clip combines typography with organic ikebana, the art of traditional Japanese floral arrangement. Harry and I both believe that After Effects and Cinema 4D are the tools used on this piece.
Singing pictures in frames... reminds me a bit of Harry Potter. The YouTube video seems to have some serious field issues, so I'm linking to the Quicktime instead, even though it takes me 3.2 minutes longer ;-).
The Night Starts Here was directed by Jonathan Vardi. The tracking is really well done and it's a lot of fun to watch. Nothing too groundbreaking, but I like it.
Buffalo 77's Won't Forget is a simple concept but well executed. Someone thumbs through a book with full page head shots of men who sing. The shot where the reader knocks the glass of water and it gets the guy all wet (pictured) is very cool. They did a pretty good job tracking. It seems to slip a little bit here and there, but overall, it's great. I'm digging the song too.
This gorgeously shot commercial for Microsoft Zune, The Ballad of Tina Pink, was sent to me today by two different people. It's really making the rounds, I guess. It was produced by Method Studios of Southern California and it's a visual knock out of the ball park.
You may recognize Method Studios from their Audrey Hepburn spots for The Gap.
Cyriak sounds like the name of a magician to me, and he is.... a magician with Photoshop and After Effects! Cyriak is a freelance animator in Brighton, UK. His website bio is very funny:" Hello, I am Cyriak from 100 years into the future, where I have been exhumed and sent backwards in time via cyberspace in order to welcome you to the unabridged contents of my brain-damaged imagination." He's unbelivably creative. Jim G. passed his stuff on to me. Jim is in the know.
Check out two of his amazing animations.
Moo!
The cow DNA is mindblowing! A screen shot just doesn't do it justice.
Beggin' - Frankie Valli video re-mix
This is just cleverl The mutant head in the vortex.... wow. This is just disturbing and oh, so fun to watch.
I never thought Frankie Valli sounded like the guy from Maroon 5 until now.
Yesterday I had the great opportunity to chat with Tomer Bahat, a music video director, producer, post-production (he uses After Effects extensively!)... basically, he is the jack-of-all-production trades. Tomer is an extremely talented artist with some very clever tricks up his sleeve. He discusses working on music videos from concepting to the final edit. See several examples of his incredible work, too.
