AE NY Meeting Thursday, July 31, 2008

The Line Up:

Feature Film Compositor and visual effects instructor Pete O'Connell will be coming out to talk about his work on films such as Stranger then Fiction,Mr Magorium's Wonder Imporium,Across the Universe and Transporter 2 as well as his new training DVD Advanced Rotoscoping Techniques for After Effcts from CreativeCow.

Owner, editor, visual effects artist Jason Diamond of NYC's MBS Production, whose clients include MTV, A&E, SpikeTV and Samian Records, will be sharing some recent AE work. I met Jason last time I was in NY and he's a really cool guy and very talented.

There will be tons of door prizes, including prizes from Toolfarm, Red Giant, Wondertouch, Imagineer, ArtBeats, Digital Film Tools, GridIron Software, Class on Demand (Harry J. Frank's Particular Training!)

Next meeting: Thursday, July 31, 2008
The Time: 6:45 PM - 9:00 PM
The Place: P.S. 41 at 116 West 11th St., NYC (corner of 11th Street and 6th Ave.)
Seats up to 400 people!

The food: Sorry - but due to site rules - no food this time. If you can live for 2 hours without eating, you'll have a great time!

The new space is just in time too because our lineup is insane!!!! Guess who coming to dinner?

Visual Designer, Marc Coleran, whose work has been seen in films like The Bourne Ultimatum, Domino, Alien vs. Predator, The Bourne Identity, Blade II, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, The World Is Not Enough - just to name a few.

Visual effects artist John Montgomery - co-founder of the online visual effects news site fxguide, as well as the training site fxphd. His Clients and Credits include Super Bowl commercials for McDonald's, Disney as well as work for Budweiser, Miller, Hallmark, Sears, Moen, Gatorade, Morgan Stanley, and the ESPN and CBS television networks.

... And more prizes than you can possibly imagine (unless you can imagine a lot, and then it's roughly the same amount of prizes you can possibly imagine).

The Lineup Includes:
Design Junkie and Motion Graphics artist Sean Cusson of Qmedia will be flying down from Canada to share his workflow, and show some of the cool tips and techniques he's developed and learned while animating up north. Get ready to say "Man, that was awesome, eh?"

Get ready to do battle with aliens, vikings, Santa Clause and sketchy fruit! Dan Opsal, Editor for CableVision's Gameplay HD, will debut his animated short "Billy Bombo," a stylized work that will make you sorry you threw away your old Nintendo Entertainment System.

Toolfarm is giving away a few prizes at the meeting.

After Effects NY Meeting Next Thursday

AENY is meeting Thursday, March 27, 2008 from 6:30-9:00pm. Videocopilot.net's Andrew Kramer will be presenting and they're giving away tons of prizes. It looks like they will be at Pratt Manhattan again, but they are shopping around for a larger venue, due to the large turnout they've been having at meetings.
