Native Support Added for Intel and PowerPC-based Macs, Electronic Downloads Are Also AvailableWilmington, NC - January 3, 2008 - Digieffects, a developer of popular software plug-ins for Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, Apple Final Cut Pro, and Autodesk Combustion today announced two important updates for Buena Depth Cue and Buena Effects Pack users. Effective immediately Buena Depth Cue and Buena Effects Pack now support Intel-based Macintosh computers. Buena Depth Cue and Buena Effects Pack are also available as electronic software downloads.
Buena Depth Cue and
Buena Effects Pack are now compatible with Universal Binary applications such as Adobe After Effects CS3, Adobe Premiere CS3, Apple Final Cut Pro 6 and Autodesk Combustion 4. Existing Buena Depth Cue and Buena Effects Pack customers moving to the Intel-based Macintosh platform can download free updates from the

Digieffects compatibility news from Robert Sharp, President of Digieffects

Dear Digieffects Customer:
I want to thank you for all your support since I acquired the business in May. Since that time we've worked hard to update our code and bring
Digieffects into the new millennium. Needless to say, it's been messy but we're making good progress.
As many of you know, we're working on our Universal Binary and Adobe CS3 compatibility updates for Mac Intel. This is scheduled to be released within 30 days and will, as promised, be free of charge to all existing customers. This update won't cover the Buena products (acquired from Toolfarm in June) which will come later this Fall.
One of the other engineering initiatives we embarked upon - and accomplished - was removing an archaic serialization scheme where our software required a CD-ROM to be serialized. Most Digieffects software is now available via ESD (electronic software download) which means it can be downloaded as a free trial and purchased immediately if desired. This is great for customers because it eliminates all the costs associated with a supply chain. Accordingly, a byproduct of these savings is drastically reduced prices (for example, Delirium is now $399 compared to $699 before).
In our march towards modernity we broke some things along the way. Here's a list of what works, what doesn't and when we hope to have it fixed.
Cinelook 2.5:
- Mac: Already a Universal Binary application so it functions on Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro CS3 as well as Apple Final Cut Pro 6 and Autodesk Combustion 4. On the Mac we had to eliminate the custom UI for this version.
- Windows: Functional in all modern host applications.
Delirium, Aurorix, Berserk and Fantazm:
- Mac: Universal Binary and Adobe CS3 update coming out within 30 days. If your host application is a Universal Binary application you can still run these plug-ins in Rosetta mode. The exception here is Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 which can't run in Rosetta mode. This means Delirium, Aurorix, Berserk and Fantazm won't run on Premiere Pro CS3 Mac until our Universal Binary update is available.
- Windows: Full compatibility with Adobe After Effects CS3 and Autodesk Combustion 4. It appears that our recent development efforts have broken all our compatibility with Premiere Pro on Windows (all versions). We're working to fix this immediately.
Buena Effects Pack (includes Au Naturel and Effect Essentials) and Buena Depth Cue:
- Mac: Universal Binary update schedule for this Fall (no exact date yet). Same Rosetta workaround as mentioned above.
- Windows: Functional in all modern host applications with the exception of Depth Cue which doesn't work with Adobe Premiere Pro. We are working to fix this.
We plan to have major revisions, including speed optimizations, out later this year. If you have any questions or anything to add, please give me a shout!

Digieffects Introduces Electronic Software Downloads and Slashes Prices

Digieffects Introduces Electronic Software Downloads and Slashes Prices Creative Professionals May Now Purchase Class On Demand Training from Digieffects
San Francisco, CA - August 21, 2007 -
Digieffects, a developer of popular software plug-ins for Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, Apple Final Cut Pro, and Autodesk Combustion is taking new steps to meet customer requests since the change of ownership in May 2007.
For the first time, Digieffects is now offering its products as electronic software downloads in addition to the standard box-copy versions. This new convenient way to purchase allows users the flexibility to buy at any time during their tight production schedules.
Digieffects has also drastically reduced the prices of many of its software plug-ins (see table below). All customers that purchased a Digieffects product directly from the company or from one of its resellers in the past 30 days qualify for price protection in the form of a credit toward future Digieffects purchases.
Digieffects has also announced that they will shortly release a FREE compatibility update providing native Mac Intel Universal Binary support for Delirium, Aurorix, Berserk, Fantasm, and Euphoria. This update will add full Adobe CS3 compatibility on the Mac (CS3 compatibility on Cinelook and all Windows products already exists). Updates will also be offered for Buena plug-ins after this release. Customers that place orders now automatically qualify for this FREE update.
Creative professionals looking to get the most out of Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, Photoshop and Apple Final Cut Studio can now purchase Classroom on Demand's video-based training DVDs directly from Digieffects.
"Since assuming management of Digieffects, we have reviewed all business practices and are taking measures to improve efficiency, better our products, and meet our customers' top requests. We are pleased to make these first strides as we remain dedicated to delivering engineering updates later this summer," said Robert Sharp, president of Digieffects.
*The May 2007 price drop for all Buena products will remain intact.

Hey, Digieffects users! Please use the forum and you'll get answers from the big kahuna himself! Digieffects will be giving out updates to their products for AE CS3 and Mac Universal Binary. Not long after that, the Buena plug-ins will be updated. Robert and company are working very hard to bring Digieffects and Buena back to the top of the plug-in heap.

Digieffects Acquires Buena Software from Toolfarm
Digieffects LLC, a developer of popular software plug-ins for Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, and Apple Final Cut Pro, announced today the purchase of Buena Software from Toolfarm, further adding to its arsenal of tools for creative professionals.
The Buena Software plug-ins for Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro and Apple Final Cut Pro were developed as effective processing tools to pick up on what the prominent software manufacturers overlooked. The plug-ins range from creative image processing and color manipulation to 3D depth effects:
- Au Naturel (SRP $149): work on your footage in a 32-bit per channel floating point linear RGB color space for more natural looking results when compositing, blurring, or correcting your footage
- Depth Cue (SRP $199): adds realistic depth effects to 3D layers
- Swatch Buckler (SRP $49): adds a floating color palette to After Effects' user interface
- Effect Essentials (SRP $249): 10 video effect plug-ins providing essential tools for productivity and creativity
As part of this acquisition, Digieffects will streamline the product line-up and offer new, lower prices effective immediately. The new lineup is as follows:

- Effect Essentials and Au Naturel will be combined into one package called the Buena Effects Pack. The suggested retail price of this new package is $199 (formerly $249 and $149 respectively).
- Depth Cue will remain a standalone plug-in with the same suggested retail price of $199. Depth Cue users can also download, for FREE, OpenEXR, a plug-in developed by Industrial Light & Magic. OpenEXR reads depth and other channels from an EXR into After Effects and Depth Cue and is a valuable tool for Digieffects customers.
- Swatch Buckler is now available as a free download from digieffects.com (formerly $49).
"Buena's tools are a perfect fit for our product line-up. Video editors and FX artists can create even more unique effects," said Robert Sharp, president of Digieffects. Sharp continued, "With this acquisition, Digieffects can expand on the needs and requests of our customers."

32-Bit Floating Point Color Space Support
We've put together a list of plug-ins that support
32-Bit Floating Point Color Space. All of the major apps are now supporting it, so if you're using After Effects 7 and above, Premiere Pro 2 and above and other apps of the last few years, you're probably okay. If both the app and the plug-in support 32-bit, you can definitely work in 32 bit.
What is 32-bit color? A quick explanation is that you usually work in a color space of 0-255 - 0 is pure black and 255 is pure white. With 32-bit color, you're working on a scale of 0-1... 0 is pure black and 1 is pure white. The trick here is that you can go higher than 1 and lower than 0 so you have a much higher dynamic range in your images and video. If you shoot RAW, this is really useful because you can pick up subtleties that are lost when you're trapped in a smaller range of luminance.
Learn more about 32-bit floating point color, link to some resources, and learn which third-party plug-ins support 32-bit color. We've included After Effects (of course!), Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Shake, Combustion, Digital Fusion, Softimage XSI and even codecs.
If you're an expert in this area, we'd love your help to expand this resource.
