Imagineer Systems Showcases Newest VFX Desktop Tools at Siggraph 2008

7/30/2008 Permalink 0 Comments share on linkedin
Customer Feedback Drives Improvements to mocha, monet, mokey, motor; Showcased in the Plugin Pavilion

GUILDFORD, UK (July 29, 2008) Imagineer Systems (www.imagineersystems.com), creators of next-generation VFX tools, today announced its presence at Siggraph 2008 in Los Angeles the week of August 12 - 14, 2008 in the Plugin Pavilion (Booth #1536) at the Los Angeles Convention Center. During the show, representatives from Imagineer Systems will showcase newly released versions of the Company's highly-popular VFX desktop tools, such as mocha, motor, monet and mokey.

"As Siggraph continues to expand its reach into the VFX and post production market, we feel the timing is perfect to add a new venue for us to meet with customers and share with them the latest developments with our VFX tools," said Allan Jaenicke, chief executive officer of Imagineer Systems. "We're also very pleased to be able to come to Los Angeles, where some of the industry's most talented VFX artists reside, and show them first-hand how our desktop tools can significantly enhance their VFX workflow."

Many customers are sharing their excitement over the significant workflow improvements they've seen since they've added Imagineer Systems to their VFX tool box. Jon Fitzsimmons of Crimson Wolf Productions had this to say about Imagineer's newest addition to its product portfolio, mocha-AE:

"mocha AE has made my life much much easier so far on a recent project. There were about 120 shots of monitors, phones, etc. in this film that need something comped in. I've been doing it with Syntheyes up until now, which was great for adding Maya elements, but not so great for screen composites. mocha-AE has made one of my most difficult shots possible!"

Imagineer Systems will join its industry colleagues in the popular Plugin Pavilion (Booth #1536) to demonstrate the newest versions, announced this month, for customers. The Company will also offer Siggraph attendees special show pricing and discounts from the show floor. More details will be available at the Imagineer Systems booth. Imagineer Systems tools available at Siggraph for demonstration and purchase include:

motor: A dedicated rotoscoping tools that leverages Imagineer's powerful 2.5D planar tracking technology that enables artists to position, rotate, scale, shear and perspective-shift roto splines;

mocha: The Company's standalone tracking station that also leverages Imagineer's advanced 2.5D planar tracking technology to simplify and significantly accelerate the tracking and rotoscoping workflow for VFX artists;

mocha-AE: Imagineer's powerful, affordable new planar tracking tool developed specifically for Adobe After Effects artists and modelled after the Company's recently released standalone tracking solution, mocha.

monet: Imagineer's popular 2.5D tracking and element replacement tool;

mokey: Another of Imagineer's highly popular VFX soltuions, mokey provides fast, high quality tracking, wire and rig removal, keying, image stabilization, noise reduction and film grain management.

Post Magazine Reviews Imagineer Mocha and Boris Continuum Complete 5

11/06/2007 Permalink 0 Comments share on linkedin
I was just looking through Post's website and there are some reviews that might interest you.

Imagineer Mocha review by Fred Ruckel. Fred likes Mocha. Buy mocha!... do it for the children.

Post Magazine Reviews Boris Continuum Complete 5

Here is an excerpt from the review: "Boris Continuum Complete (BCC) has become an indispensable tool for my post production workflow. A job is not 'complete' until it's been run through Continuum Complete. No matter what kind of job it is: from keying to motion tracking or grading to uprezing, BCC has something for everyone."

I don't have a link (yet) to the BCC review. Maybe it's not on the site yet. I'll keep an eye out. Learn more about Boris Continuum Complete in our Plug-in Finder

Node-locked vs. Floating Licenses

10/10/2007 Permalink 0 Comments share on linkedin
You have probably noticed the terms node-locked and floating licenses being tossed around a lot lately. You might have noticed that we currently have a pre-order deal on Mocha AE and the versions are node-locked, floating and node-locked with dongle. What does it all mean?

We've set up a page that defines Node-Locked and Floating licenses.

A dongle is a not just a fun word to say, but it is a small piece of hardware that works as a security device and can be moved between different computers. Software companies are moving away from dongles. Any questions? Please ask!

Introducing Mocha AE from Imagineer Systems

10/04/2007 Permalink 0 Comments share on linkedin
mocha-aeMocha AE is custom designed and priced for the After Effects community, this stand alone 2D tracking tool packed with features that make the effects compositors life easier. Now compositors can avoid the guess work and inaccuracies that result from hand tracking challenging shots, speeding up the process of generating solid 4-point tracks, giving position, scale, rotation, shear and perspective matched tracks and exporting the data to Adobe After Effects. Version 5,6,7 and CS3.

Based on Imagineers unique 2.5D Planar Tracking technology, mocha AE helps solve problematic shots that traditionally break point based trackers, such as footage with objects moving out of frame, lack of detail, motion blur and heavy grain. Mocha AE's innovative AdjustTrack tool helps remove drift and enables the compositor to extract offset tracking data for areas that go off screen.

mocha AE allows tracking to be completed in less time, with higher accuracy, giving you an unfair advantage versus your competitors!

  • Available for Windows, Mac OS X
  • Resolution Independent and works with all SD, HD and Film formats
  • Cineon, DPX, TGA, TIF, JPEG, PNG, SGI, QuickTime file import
  • Supports up to 16 bits per channel
  • Export 2D tracking data to Adobe After Effects
  • Node-locked and cross-platform floating licenses available.

Plus, Toolfarm is having a pre-order special! Save $100 on the node-locked version and $200 on the floating license. This offer will expire once Mocha AE is released, which is expected in Mid-October. Don't miss out. Order Mocha AE today!

MGLA Meeting Last night

8/22/2007 Permalink 0 Comments share on linkedin
I wasn't at the meeting since I'm clear across the country, so I'm living vicariously through those who were lucky enough to attend. First, Dave Basulto has posted some images from last night's MGLA meeting on his site.

Second, Chris Meyer of Cybermotion had some great things to say about the meeting in a post to the AE List. Imagineer Mocha was shown. It's a planar tracker that uses the technology in the more advanced Mokey and Monet. Chris says, " It did some pretty darn amazing things, including continuing tracks successfully when large portions of the tracked object went off screen."

Marco S. from Digital Anarchy showed PlasmaFX and ToonIt! Chris says about ToonIt! " It was also an excellent example of the role frame rate plays in whether we perceive something as real or fantasy; keeping the result at normal video rate didn't look like you would expect it to."

Peder Norrby showed Trapcode Form (codename Flux). Form is the plug-in that people are really keyed up for the release, which will hopefully still happen this summer. It's similar to Particular but does lots of other cool things. Chris says "The couple of examples Peder showed using displacement maps and alpha mattes were particularly impressive".

Sean Safreed showedMagic Bullet 3 at the meeting. Chris says "...the new UI... it makes things soooo much easier for quick, broad strokes to get the look you're after without having to come to terms with a bunch of sliders (however useful they are)."

8/20/2007 Permalink 0 Comments share on linkedin

After you decompress from SIGGRAPH, remember that the next MGLA meeting is Tuesday, August 21, at Barnsdall Gallery Theatre. It is Plug-In Night 2, with a stellar line-up:

  • Digital Anarchy ToonIt! and PlasmaFX (Jim Tierney will be down to demo)
  • Trapcode codename Flux (Peder Norbby is over from Sweden and will demonstrate in person)
  • Magic Bullet 3 (the upcoming version of this much-loved film look suite)

$36,000 IN DOOR PRIZES!

Details are online at the MGLA site. They will be posting prizes and sending out a full email in the next week. This will be one of those don't-miss meetings. (And by the way - it's MGLA's 10th anniversary that night as well!)
