but when I drag "Looks" on my footage and want to start working with the Looks editor Premiere 5.5 crashes. I have tried everything. deinstalled cineform, reinstalled - same effect. Tried out other non converted footage (h264, mov) - crash. reinstall MB - crash.
Actually 11.2 keeps crashing every time I want to work with it.

Any ideas?

I have applied Magic Bullet Denoiser on an adjustment layer in After Effects CS 5.5.
Everthing works fine, but it causes issues with a single frame close to the sample frame. Sometimes it is rendered entirely as black, sometimes it is even repeated so there is a jump in the film.

Anyone ever heard of that?

After colour correcting a clip, I copy and paste the filter to the next clip. All pasted settings are lost and the new clip has only defaults. This is easy to workaround.

Later - need to go back to autosaved FCp project file. Closed existing, opened auto-save project from 10 min previously. All Colorista settings have reset to defaults (zero). All grading work from previous hours has been lost.

Any thoughts please?

This is causing my result to be quite a bit blurry. I have tried adding an "unsharp mask" filter, but many times this seems to make the render buggy, as in it flickers on and off frame-to-frame, or doesn't render the the layer at all.

I have tried applying this to the layer with the Freeform effect applied, or on one layer up, but I get the same result.

Some times it seems I can solve the flickering by adjusting mesh subdivision or displacement height, but that is only a guessing game, and mostly doesn't work.

Questions:
1) Is there an alternative to using Image Filtering and Antialiasing?

I've looked on the forum and I must not be looking in the right place. I'm can't seem to get colorista to show up in After Effect, Premiere or Final Cut. I'm running Lion on my Mac and I've followed the instructions on the Red Giant site on how to install it. I'm an Avid user and the last version of Looks to support Media Composer was 1.4. I'd like to purchase a serial as Red Giant support told me that a version 2 serial would not unlock a version 1 plugin.

I asked if it was possible to purchase a version 1 serial but have heard nothing back.

I have some trouble with a particle world I created with particular FORM.
When I render parts (1920 x 1080 px) of this quite big comp (4800x960 px) I get very disturbing pyramid lines growing from bottom and top.
See attached picture.
Funny enough I only get them on the two outside parts. For the rendering in the middle I do not get them...

Any suggestions please how to get rid of them?
Tried using different codecs already but that didn't help.

Why?

Because you should be doing two things - one, your normal job of doing good production, and two, writing up justifications for stuff to be purchased with end-of-year money. You probably already know how to do #1, but how many of you (honestly) think about #2?

Even though your agency or contracting officer is going to do whatever it takes to spend their entire budget by Sept 30, your chances of getting a piece of that increase dramatically if you have a well-written, well-researched and (esp) well-documented justification for purchasing things for your studio. Sure, you can tell your boss that "this plugin" or "that piece of hardware" would be good for doing better work, but if he or she has a document that states what it is, what it will do for the government, where to buy it & how much, then your chances of getting it are that much better.

In my day in working in or for the Gov't, I had three levels of justification written and ready to go - Big Ticket expensive, moderate, and (the most) LOTS of cheap and simple. I'd submit them in that order as well - they're going to be sorted in order of likelihood, and you can count on the expensive stuff being pushed aside (for the moment), the moderate ones considered, but the cheap ones sitting at the ready to fill out those last few dollars left.

However, ALL of them shared some similar info or rules:

1) NEVER badmouth what you have now. Even if it's slow, crashes every 15 minutes and makes your work a pain, badmouthing it will never get it upgraded, replaced or supplemented. Instead, show what ever you're recommending wil make it faster, better or stronger.
2)Talk about how it will expand existing capabilities. Zaxwerks Invigorator Pro adds pro-level 3d to After Effects. Magic Bullets adds Hollywood-level color grading to edited productions. Telestream Episode adds the ability to encode for mobile devices....you get the idea.
3) Talk about how it will fit into existing workflow and capabilities. For example. If you get multiple sets of Magic Bullet, talk about how you'll use it to "finish" productions after client signoff, but before final viewing. But NEVER EVER try and justify something until you've got this part well-researched and documented. Because if you can't answer this question, it will doom that request along with any others you submit.
4)As a follow-up to #3, if you sole-source something, MAKE SURE IT'S BACKED UP. Asking for Maya as a 3d system because you saw a demo online is a recipe for failure. Spec'ing Maya because you need to do sophisticated animation and cloth simulations as a part of larger 3d productions gives you a shot.
5)Don't forget the hardware. That includes furniture, esp chairs. If you're going to sit at a workstation for 8+hrs, you need a good chair that doesn't hurt you. If the keyboard you're using to edit is some old PS2 keyboard that clacks like an adding machine and has vintage Avid shortcut stickers on it, invest in a new modern one. Have a sore wrist from doing masks in After Effects? Get a good Wacom tablet!
6)And most importantly - TALK ABOUT HOW IT WILL BOOST PRODUCTION. It never hurts to mention how you'll be able to "do better work" when you have more plugins, color grading software or a better keyboard or Wacom tablet.

There is a #7, but it needs to happen after you get it - Do something big with whatever you buy. If you get some seats of Invigorator Pro, make sure you do some great 3d type or objects in your next After Effects project. Use Magic Bullet to color-grade a project. But show your boss what he or she spent the taxpayer's money on!

Now, here's three suggestions for each of my categories:

1) Big Ticket Expensive - I have two suggestions.

One, pick up as many seats of Adobe Production Premium CS5.5 as you have seats of your main editing system (which if your Govt, is going to be Avid or FCP.) Why? the 50% SWITCH discount runs thru the end of September, and you don't have to provide any serial numbers. You can give them to producers to do offline editing, put them on staff's laptops as part of your agencies offsite work program, or just keep them on the shelf until you get some more CPUS.

Two - Good stock music. Listen to network promos and trailers in the movie theater, and think about the music. Cheezy libraries that are cheap seems to make sense when you are spending big money on editing or graphics systems, but it's like buying a good shirt and getting a free bad haircut at the barber college. People notice that cheezy music, and it drags down the rest of the production. The good folks at VideoHelper are Government-friendly, and they will cut you a reasonable deal on the rights. 2) Moderate. This is where I look at hardware. Wacom tablets are always a good buy, as are custom keyboards for whatever system you use. Bella keyboards are good, but you can always buy a quality keyboard from Logitech or Kensington, and use custom stickers from Bella on them.

Two -finishing hardware & Software. The Gov't tends to skip the finishing in the production process. Just adjusting levels in a finished sequence makes it look more professional, why not do some color correction and grading? Red Giant Magic Bullet or Tiffin DfX are both excellent suites of plugins to match this need. If you're a Mac studio and you want to shoot for the moon, ask for a DaVinci Resolve system.

3) Cheap and Simple. As a rule, shoot for individual plugin sets that price between $150-$350. These amounts seem to fit in well with other larger purchases, and there's lots of great plugins for this price. Look at Digieffect's ala carte plugins, or pick up any of the great Trapcode plugins.

3. Uninstall my gfx card and re-install it with the newer version (Didn't Work)
4. Reset AE preferences by pressing alt+shift+ctrl on the shortcut (Didn't Work)
5. Change render settings from H.264 -> .AVI (Didn't Work)
6. I've deleted "AE_OpenGL" from my After Effects folder (Didn't Work)

I've never had this problem before and hope that someone has a solution to this problem... if so please post an answer. I don't know if its because i put the plug in on all of my clips and then made an adjustment layer with another Magic Bullet Looks or if it's my clips fault but i just dont know what to do.

I'm a video editing novice who primarily uses imovie right now. I was recently exposed to Magic Bullet Mojo and fell in love with it. When I went to purchase it I noticed I needed a host application to run it. Well, I don't exactly want any of the host applications--just Mojo. So my question is...what are the best options for a guy like me who really wants to mess around with Mojo but doesn't want to spend very much on the host application? What can I do?

I just purchased the Magic Bullet Mojo 1.2 and installed it on my iMac for use on Final Cut Pro. I did all the folder permissions, etc, but it looks like the functionality is a little off.

The Presets that sold me on this software are only available as a Final Cut Pro project. Does anyone know if there's a way to have it saved in your Effects panel for use on any project? I'm a little confused on how to get this up and running.

Also, there's no "Options" button on the Mojo filter box. It's just a "Register" box, which I've already registered.
