Description
3D Layer, a Conoa-produced plug-in originally available from Digital Anarchy, is now available directly from Conoa! 3D Layer allows you to create a three-dimensional layer with visible 'thickness' that can be bent, warped, and modeled. Your 3D layer is shaped and animated by grayscale maps, and uses a true mesh as an easy, familiar method for distortion and animation. Texture the layer on any side with movies, stills or pre-comps; punch holes in the mesh; or model its outside edge.
Working in 3D After Effects's built-in 3D layers are similar to postcards. They have no depth, so they appear as very thin layers floating in space. While this is fine for some animations, objects in the real world have thickness or depth to them. You need to add this depth to your layer to make it appear truly 3D.
Imagine a layer in After Effects that looks like a wooden sign swinging open or a waving flag. Then imagine that object with a 'thickness' to its edge. If you are trying to create more realistic objects in After Effect's 3D space, we feel that 3D Layer offers up a flexible, creative solution.
