Description
Anarchy Toolbox is a set of nine tools that create a variety of sophisticated effects. These visuals include creative blurs, beautiful glows, controlled distortions, seamlessly tiled images, and warped graphics.
Use fractal noise, gradient strokes, Bezier paths, or multiple displacement maps to create interesting results like painterly images or lighting effects.
Displacement mapping is an art form. It is the art of using grayscale images to push pixels around. This is an incredibly powerful and creative way of compositing, but difficult to grasp conceptually.
Our Anarchy Toolbox filters aim to make using grayscale maps easier, and make your compositing more sophisticated.
Most of the Toolbox filters use a graymap to control some aspect of how they behave or what the filter outputs. This is the displacement map. The filter points to a grayscale image, and tells it to displace your original graphic by a specified amount of pixels.
Wherever the graymap is white, the underlying original image will be pushed up or to the left or to its maximum. Where the graymap is black, the original image will be pushed down or to the right or to its minimum (which is 0). At 50% gray, nothing gets displaced. The shades of gray in between cause the image to be displaced by pixels that are a fraction of the maximum amount.
Toolbox Plugins
- Anarchist Edge- produces glowing, painterly edge effects. It finds areas of contrasting colors and creates lines along the borders of those areas. Controls include adjusting the strength of the edge, its softness, and combining the result with the underlying image via transfer modes.
- Designer Blur - Creates a blur effect using a pre-defined shape or a grayscale map that you define. As the underlying image blurs, the pixels take on the blur kernel shape, which then blends with the other shapes around it, producing interesting painterly or lighting effects.
- Path Distort - allows you to distort an image, like an imported bitmap or pre-comped layer, in the shape of a Bezier path. Options include having the image take up only a portion of the path, animating the image along the path, or animating the path to warp/distort the image.
- Gradient Path - allows you to wrap a gradient around a Bezier path. Its uses include color effects around strokes and masks; backgrounds based on mask shapes. custom glow effects; control when creating mattes; and custom grayscale maps for other filters (like our new Designer Blur).
- Noise Complex - Is a fractal noise filter for which you can decide the rate of change, amount of change, and even control the noise using grayscale maps. Use this filter not just for Noise effects, but more powerfully as a source layer for other filters that use grayscale maps (like After Effect's Mosaic filter).
- Smooth Tiler - Seamlessly tiles images that were not designed to seamlessly tile. This is accomplished by blending opposite edges, which gives the appearance of a smooth transition.
- ReSizer- Provides a dozen different algorithms for intelligently resizing footage and images. You are no longer limited to Draft and Best Quality, or to the built-in Transform properties of a layer.
- Advanced Displacement Map- gives you unlimited flexibility for creating displacement effects. You can combine up to 3 different grayscale maps to create distortions or stunning natural effects, such as fire or water.
- Color Sampler- finds the color value of a graphic at a specified point, then uses that sample to set the color of another graphic. Work with simple expressions to make your RGB values control other parameters.
- Digital Anarchy Gradient - Formerly sold as a single plug-in, Gradient! is now included with the Anarchy Toolbox. Gradient! allows you to create 16-bit, 6 color gradients within Adobe After Effects. It gives you unprecedented control over the look and animation of the gradients.
