Description
Color Theory is a digital color wheel that intelligently finds harmonious color combinations. Developed by Theory, LLC, Color Theory enables designers to quickly analyze hundreds of color schemes while working with existing logos and artwork.
CT Pro has advanced functions like image loading and monitor mirroring. It also gives you a plugin set that works in many popular software packages. supports image loading
Color Theory Pro has added functionality for image loading. You can load in an image that you're working on, let's say a logo, and tinker away directly in the interface.
You can import any still image file format supported by Quicktime. Formats include PICT, TIFF, Photoshop, JPEG, GIF, SGI, BMP, PNG, !MacPaint, TGA, SWF, and QuickTime Image.
CT Pro ships with a plug-in set that has the same functions and tools as the stand-alone application. These plug-ins are for Adobe Photoshop and After Effects. They are also supported in Adobe Illustrator, Apple Final Cut Pro, Pinnacle Systems' Commotion, Autodesk Combustion, and Avid Media Composer (when used with Profound Effects' Elastic Gasket).
Through the host app's Filter menu, apply Color Theory directly to a layer in Photoshop; a layer in Illustrator; a solid in After Effects; or a plug-in Final Cut Pro. Once applied, you can work with CT Pro in that application.
Color Theory works as a stand-alone application, or as a plug-in for Adobe Photoshop and Adobe After Effects. The product was conceived and developed by Theory, LLC of San Francisco.
User Reveiws
- "Color Theory is a digital color wheel, used to find harmonious color combinations. The formulas are based on the studies of Bauhaus professor Johannes Itten, and utilize the classical artists' Red, Yellow, and Blue (RYB) color model. Using the RYB model, Color Theory's formulas include all of Professor Itten's traditional formulas, as well as primary, secondary, tertiary, pastel, neutral and discord (clash) schemes. Color Theory enables designers to quickly analyze hundreds of color schemes while working with existing logos and artwork.
- "Color Theory is an incredible tool. It has completely changed the way I select color. No designer should be without it," says Arthur Vibert, Creative Director, DDB Worldwide San Francisco.
- "Color Theory allows artists to work in a RYB model on an RGB computer monitor. Color Theory will help graphic designers determine CMYK or Pantone color combination while Color Theory DV allows broadcast designers to preview color combinations directly on their NTSC/PAL monitor. The ability to import images with alpha channels enables every artist to see color schemes in combination with their own artwork.
- "I have used Color Theory over the past few months with great results. It has enabled me to find color schemes, which I would have never thought of before. I can honestly say that it has made me a better designer... not necessarily because it is giving me the "right" answer, but rather opening my eyes to new possibilities," said Matt Silverman. "I see great promise for anyone who needs to develop color schemes for print, video, web, fine art, or interior design."
