Buy mofex for Shake

Description

If you are working with Shake, you will find mofex very useful as it

  • Offers an advanced toolset for performing complex operations on inserts, such as applying warps, lens distortion, shadows and highlights
  • Contains tools such as a mesh warper, temporal filters for e.g. removing unwanted reflections and spatial filters for automatic removal of tracking markers
  • Can be used entirely on its own within Shake but also allows you to import monet projects into Shake

If you use Shake as your main compositing tool mofex is the ideal solution for you as it integrates seamlessly into the Shake toolset.

In addition, mofex enables you to export projects from monet as Shake scripts, allowing you to bring your monet setups into your Shake compositing pipeline and remain within Shake if changes need to be made.

Mofex's toolset

Antialias

This node applies an antialiasing blur to the input image. It uses tracking data specified to determine the final size and transformation of the image, and thus the amount of antialiasing required.

ColourFilter

This node is designed to remove tracking markers from a scene, allowing shadows and highlights to be extracted by the Luminance node. Features include:

  • Separate filters for red, green, blue, black and white with individually adjustable colour purity and thresholds.
  • Clone filling which copies pixels from surrounding areas into the filled region
  • Smooth filling which extrapolates gradients from the surround areas into the filled region.

The input is an element containing tracking markers or other similar objects and an optional processing mask to constrain the operation. This mask is usually the output of a mofex Insert operation. The output is an element with the markers removed.

DownSample

This node does a simple downsize of the input image by the specified factor of 2.

EdgeEnhance

Use this node to sharpen edges or overdrive it to introduce typical edge artifacts giving a graphical element a video look.

Insert

This node performs a corner pin with position information supplied either by the Shake 2D point tracker, exported from monet or linked from another mofex node. Features of the Insert include:

  • Accurate motion blur reconstructed from the tracking information
  • The insert can be offset from the tracking, and offsets will include any changes in perspective.
  • A simple edge warper to allow fitting of the insert to slightly curved objects, for example TV screens.
  • A multi-resolution mesh warper to allow fitting of the insert to more complex objects, for example clothing or flags.
  • Advanced offsets, which simulate depth changes and parallax, for example to put backgrounds in window frames.
  • Anti-aliasing, focus blur and edge enhancement for improved realism in the insert
  • Soft edges on the inserted region
  • Lens distortion can be specified, either by exporting from monet or by manually specifying lens parameters

The inputs to the Insert node are an image to be transformed (foreground) and key-frame data for tracking, warp and other controls. The output is a transformed foreground image, composited on a transparent black background.

Luminance

This node computes the shadows and highlights in an image, and can apply them to another image. It is normally used to re-apply shadows and highlights from a background element to a foreground element before compositing.

Features include:

  • Accurate computation of shadows and highlights over uniform backgrounds
  • Motion compensation of the background based on tracking data from a Shake 2D point tracker, exported from monet, or linked from another mofex node.
  • Variable size median filtering of the background clip to allow extraction of shadows and highlights from non-uniform backgrounds.
  • Gain controls for shadows and highlights

There are four inputs to the Luminance node:

  • Background - to extract shadows and highlights from
  • Optional foreground - to apply the shadows and highlights to
  • Optional filtered element - a version of the background element which has been temporally filtered to remove moving shadows and highlights.

Tracking key-frames

The node will output a foreground element with luminance effects applied, a shadow map, a highlight map or a combined luminance map.

MeshWarp

This node is a standalone version of the multi-resolution mesh warper from the Insert node. It can be applied to any image and the warp can be key-framed from any source.

The input is an element to warp; the output is a warped element.

Shape

This node allows shapes exported from monet to be loaded into Shake and converted into !RotoShapes.

TemporalFilter

This node applies a motion-compensated temporal median filter to a sequence, removing most moving shadows and highlights. Features include:

  • Temporal median filter with variable-size, asymmetric window
  • Tracking data can be supplied from either a Shake 2D point tracker, monet export, or another mofex node.

The input is a background element and tracking key-frames, the output is a filtered element.
