Description
Quick workflow, fast rendering and easy export to compositing applications have long established CINEMA 4D as a staple among motion graphics artists. With the MoGraph module motion graphics artists can feast upon a smorgasbord of powerful tools that make it easy to create everything from flying logos to abstract effects.
Clone numerous objects and create extruded text with just a few simple clicks, or add effectors into the mix and put everything in motion and much more, often without a single keyframe!
Of course, these tools have been perfectly integrated into CINEMA 4D and offer the same fast, easy workflow you have come to expect. All functions are completely interactive and non-destructive.
With MoGraph, "going through the motions" and getting the job done will be a joy!
Clone More than Sheep
The heart of the MoGraph module is a powerful, yet simple clone tool. You can easily create live copies of any object, arranged along a line, circle, grid, object or spline. Object clones can be placed along points, edges, polygon centers or randomly across the surface of the object. Adjust and keyframe parameters to modify clone count, spacing and more.
You can stack cloner upon cloner until you have so many copies your scene can't help but look cool. Clone anything with the help of MoGraph, and achieve results that would make Dolly proud.
Groovy Generators
Use other objects in MoGraph to easily create extruded text, fracture and extrude spline-based logos, displace objects in real time and more. The MoGraph text object allows you to easily create extruded text and animate it by letter, word, line or block, while the Fracture object will break a logo into parts and allow each part to be affected.
The Instance object creates object trails, or you can create a spline from the path of objects and particles using Tracer. Use the Spline Wrap object to easily deform and animate an object around a spline, or extrude a polygon selection along a spline using the Extrude deformer. Each object performs an invaluable function for the motion graphics artist, and each can be fully controlled by MoGraph effectors.
Effortless Effectors
All the MoGraph objects would do little good without the ability to easily animate them. Effectors can be applied to almost any MoGraph generator to move your MoGraph creations effortlessly. For instance, the delay effector eliminates any need to hand-animate overshoot. Each clone will automatically overshoot and spring into position. Adjust clones mathematically with the formula effector, or make changes according to the frequency of an audio file using the Sound Effector.
With effectors, clones can easily align and animate along a spline, inherit motion from any object, or even animate based on a material or shader. Affect clones in sequence, or randomly, or based on custom weighting applied through another effector. Effectors can even be used to deform non-!MoGraph objects. Eleven different effectors can be used in any combination to offer countless animation possibilities.
Sound Ideas
Your motion graphics creations can dance to the beat of any drummer with the help of the Sound Effector. Automatically move, scale, rotate or colorize clones based on audio frequencies. Filter specific frequencies or apply an entire band across the clones. To help you get started, 350 megabytes of royalty-free music are included among the many motion graphics goodies included with the module. A sampling of these clips can be heard in many of the accompanying demo movies.
In addition to audible input, MoGraph accepts visual input using the Shader Effector. This powerful tool utilizes the alpha, greyscale or channel data of any image, movie file or procedural shader to adjust and animate each clone. Like many other aspects of CINEMA 4D, MoGraph's features make it easy to fit 3D into your workflow and tailor your motion graphics to existing content.
Showy Shaders
MoGraph includes three custom shaders to manage the materials on your cloned objects. The MoGraph Color shader allows you to apply the color changes of any effector within any material channel, while the MultiShader allows you to distribute different materials among each object clone. With the beat shader, you can create heart-thumping animations based on rhythmic beats per minute settings and a custom spline to adjust the pulse.
Whether you use MoGraph shaders, animated textures or other settings, you always have full control over the textures of your MoGraph creations. Cloned objects can be textured individually or as a group, and textures can be locked into position as they are modified by effectors. With MoGraph's showy shading options, you willl have the creative control you need.
XPress Yourself
For the real control-freaks, all object and effector parameters can be controlled through XPresso, CINEMA 4D's node-based editor. MoGraph even offers nodes to read the current PSR, color and weighting data for individual clones, as well as an Effector node to affect other scene objects based on the output of individual effectors. With the Falloff node, you can utilize MoGraph's powerful falloff calculations to generate a falloff field for any Xpresso effect. SDK hooks allow programmers even more control over MoGraph's powerful features.
Whether you are a 2D compositor ready to add new dimension to your work or a seasoned 3D artist with scripting savvy, you are sure to gain hours of employment and enjoyment through the smarter, faster workflow of CINEMA 4D's MoGraph module.
Supported Compositing Software
CINEMA 4D renders the passes in any desired format (image sequences, AVIs or QuickTime movies) and creates a compositing project file, that automatically brings all sequences together in the correct format. Depending on your Compositing app additional data, such as 3D cameras, 3D lights or reference object will be exported, too.
These compositing apps are currently supported by CINEMA 4D
- Adobe After Effects* (from V5.0)
- Apple Final Cut Pro (from V4.5)
- Apple Motion (from V1.0)
- Apple Shake (from V3.5)
- Autodesk Combustion* (from V3.0)
- eyeon Fusion (from V5.0)
- *3D 2D- & 3D-Support
