Description

PHYX:image is a collection of PPTs (PhyxProcessingTrees) designed to process imagery within Apple Shake. PHYX:image IS included in the 'PPTbundle'. The seven plugins included with IMAGE are: ColorCorrector, ColorSupressor, DirectionalBlur, Grainer, LevelsHistogram, NoiseRemover, and ShockFilter.

List of Effects

ColorCorrector As fans of the color correct operator in another compositing application, we decided to add similar processor to Shake. This PPT processes the color shift by selecting the target color (Color Picker wheel window), or you can select a color from within the image displayed in the viewer window in Shake. The amount of correction is a simple mix operator, to vary the amount of color shift. Pre-saturation varies the amount of saturation present in the image before the color shift is applied. Color Corrector may be used by Cinematographers or Colorists to achieve creative ‘color-filtering’ looks, or for simulating certain processes within the DI (Digital Intermediate) process.

ColorSupress Color Suppress enables users to isolate a color (which can be selected by clicking on the Color box, and choosing a color on the Color Wheel, or from the Viewer window). The amount of suppression is variable. This processor is extremely powerful-- color suppression may be used by Cinematographers or Colorists to achieve creative ‘color-filtering’ looks, or for simulating certain photographic processes or filters within the DI (Digital Intermediate) process.

DirectionalBlur DirBlur is similar to the motion blur in Adobe’s Photoshop application. DirBlur can be used to add a directional blur. BlurDirection controls the angle of the Blur, and Blur Amount controls the amount of blur added to the image. This processor may be used to add a motion blur-type of effect to elements in Composites, or for processing Motion Graphics elements.

Grainer Grainer is a grain simulator for Shake. Grain Scale and Grain Speed control the overall aspects of the grain. Beyond that, all three color channels of grain generation (Red, Green, and Blue) are controllable by; Blur, Gain, and Scale. Amount controls the amount or density of grain added to the shot or element. Grainer may be used by may be used by Cinematographers or Colorists to add grain to projects or specific scenes within the DI (Digital Intermediate) or other color-correction or post process. Grainer may also be used by Compositors to match grain, or add grain over final composites to match other shots. Grainer may also be used to add grain on 3d generated imagery.

LevelsHisto Levels Histogram is a levels control, similar to that in Adobe Photoshop and After Effects. Levels Histogram superimposes the viewable histogram onto the image in the Viewer window. ‘Histogram Amount’ controls the level of the superimposition. Warning; the Histogram is included for viewing and reference purposes, but MAY be visible on renders. It is advisable to lower Histogram to ‘0’ before making your final render. Low, high, low clip, high clip, and gamma are controllable. This processor may also be used after a Reorder node to control the levels of an isolated color channel.

NoiseRemover Noise Remover is an effective spatial noise mask and removal tool. This processor works is efficient and powerful at attenuating grain and high frequency noise. Noise Remover may be used by Cinematographers or Colorists to remove grain or other high frequency noise within the DI (Digital Intermediate) or other post-production process. Grainer may also be used by Compositors to remove grain or other high frequency noise.

ShockFilter Shock Filter is a unique sharpening processor in that it attenuates noise, then applies a de-blur (or un-sharp mask) to the images. The process of sharpening images may generally be plagued with the sharpening algorithm amplifying noise along with edge detail. Shock Filter is unique in that it first creates a mask for noise, and attenuates its value, then de-blurs the de-noised result. This PPT is also quite CPU efficient. Shock Filter may be useful for cleaning-up video and film originated sources with moderate noise and blurriness, such as DV-originated footage, or HD captured in low-light. Shock Filter may be used by Cinematographers or Colorists to remove grain or other high frequency noise within the DI (Digital Intermediate) or other post-production process.
