General Issues
Q: I have not received my serial number, where is it?
Serial number(s) are sent to the e-mail address you provide at checkout (Download orders only). To ensure a safe delivery of this message please read the following:
- Please allow up to 5 hours for this e-mail message to be received.
- Serial number(s) may be looked up online within 3 hours of check out using our Serial Number Look Up System.

Q: I just downloaded a .SIT &/or .ZIP file, now what?
- To open .Sit or .Zip files you must have compression software installed on your system. Download: The Unarchiver, StuffIt Expander, or WinZip
- After installing compression software, extract the file contents and use the provided installer for installation.
Q: Can I have my serial number re-sent?
Unfortunately Serial number look up is available to customers who purchased a Download directly from Red Giant Software.
Using the product
Q: Doing White Balance via Shift-Clicking on the Gain color wheel isn't working for me.
This should only be required in Final Cut Pro.
- The Shift+Click is taking place on the gain wheel.
- The Shift+Click takes place on the color swatch arc in the upper left area of the wheel.
Q: When I apply Colorista the UI only shows a partial view of the three color wheels, how do I resolve this?
The problem is easily resolved, but takes a delicate touch.
- Drag the far right corner of the Filter window to exapnd the entire window.
- Place the cursor to the left of the "NAV" window and drag it to the right
Known Issues
Q: I just re-installed Colorista and/or Colorista is crashing when opening on multiple Mac platforms Colorista v1.0.1 update
To check the current version of Magic Bullet Colorista installed, go to following path:
- MacHD/Library/Plug-ins/FxPlug/MBCC.fxplug/Contents/MacOS/MBCC
- Commad+i on MBCC will open Info window.
- If the Created date is 2/7/07 or later then you have Colorista v1.0.1
Current Know issues with Magic Bullet Colorista v1.0:
- Magic Bullet Colorista version 1.0 does not have cross platform support, therefore you cannot share projects saved between PPC and Intel Macintosh computers.
- Magic Bullet Colorista version 1.0.1 fixes the cross platform problem, but unfortunately is not backwards compatible with version 1.0, and cannot open projects with version 1.0 applied. Please only use Magic Bullet Colorista version 1.0.1 with new projects.
Q: When I apply Colorista in Final Cut Pro 5.1> it automatically changes my footage, is this supposed to happen?
No. We do know about this and are working to resolve the issue.
Q: Upgraded to FCP 5.1.3 and Colorista disappears.
Apple has released Final Cut Pro v5.1.4. The 5.1.4 update fixes known issues with Colorista and Final Cut Pro 5.1.3
