Bugs and Issues
NEW Intel-based Macs. What's the deal for MAGIC BULLET EDITORS Final Cut Pro and Motion?
Problem Magic Bullet Editors does NOT work Apple has released Final Cut Pro Studio 5.1 that supports Intel-based Mac computers including the iMac models and the !MacBook Pro (the only current Intel-based Mac models as of this posting). With this release Apple makes it possible to run Final Cut Pro, Motion and other apps at native speeds on the Intel-based Macs. On Intel-based Macs ONLY, Final Cut Pro will NOT run Magic Bullet Editors 2 plugins. Why? Apple has dropped support for After Effects-compatible plug-ins in this release on Intel-based Macs. The plugins will still work as expected on PowerPC-based systems with version 5.1.
Solution A New Version of Magic Bullet Editors 2 for Motion Red Giant Software CANNOT provide After Effects plug-ins for Final Cut Pro on Intel if there is no support from Apple. However, we will update our plug-ins to work in the Motion 2 FX Plug API for Intel Macs. That means that all plug-ins that currently run in Final Cut Pro will instead run in Motion 2.1 including Misfire plug-ins. To use the tools on a Final Cut Pro sequence you will need to export the sequence to Motion and apply the plug-ins to the clip(s) in Motion and then use the Motion sequence in Final Cut Pro before you output a final file or print to tape. This is the only solution to the current compatibility issue that Apple has created. Full workflow details and availability will be posted in May.
We are committed to continue working with Apple to solve the issue inside of Final Cut Pro, we apologize for any short term inconvenience.
