Pro Maintenance Tools 2.2.6 – September 18, 2018

Downgrade Adobe Premiere projects and run scripts inside plugin installers

We recently released Pro Maintenance Tools 2.2.6 with some great new features.

Downgrade Adobe Premiere projects

Project Repair can now downgrade Adobe Premiere projects so they can be opened in earlier versions of Premiere. After downgrading the project, Premiere will report that it was saved in an earlier version and asks you to save a copy. After doing this, the project will now be openable by Premiere.

If you use Premiere features not supported in earlier versions they will of course not work in the earlier version, so be aware of this as Adobe has recently made major changes to features like the titler.

Run scripts inside plugin installers

Plugin Manager can create installers for plugins. This is not just useful for plugin developers to distribute their plugins but can also be an easy way of backing up your plugins or moving them to another computer.

You can now run scripts both before and after installing the files in order to perform additional tasks like running a licensing step, copying or moving files or launching a web page. You can run Applescripts, Bash scripts or Swift scripts (note that some Swift scripts may not work on earlier versions of macOS). The scripts must return 0 otherwise Plugin Manager will abort the installation, which is useful in situations where you want to stop installation if a license or security check fails.

Improved FCPX event repair

  • Several customers have sent us events that can no longer be opened in FCPX due to corrupt stabilization data. Project Repair can now remove all stabilization information to fix such events.
  • We’re planning to expand on this in future updates to strip out other commonly-corrupted parts including third-party effects.

Improved FCPXML repair

  • Updated Crash Analyzer definitions

Version 2.0.27

Pro Maintenance Tools 2.0.27 is a minor update to our suite of tools to maintain, optimize and troubleshoot your editing system.

Improved Premiere project repair

Project Repair now analyzes the structure of an Adobe Premiere project before repairing to try to predict the likelihood of success. If it knows the project is unsalvageable it will be able to provide a more helpful error message. It’s especially useful at letting you know when the project file was truncated in the middle of saving so only half of the data is there (yes, this can happen – we recommend Pro Versioner as a way of rescuing your data).

Other changes

  • System Toolkit – Added the ability to reset Adobe plugin blacklists
  • Plugin Manager – Improved Adobe CC 2014.1 compatibility
  • Preference Manager – Improved Adobe CC 2014.1 compatibility
  • Crash Analyzer – Fixed an issue that may cause it to erroneously say a newer update is available when submitting a log
  • Updated Crash Analyzer definitions
  • Various other bug fixes, tweaks, and improvements

Version 2.0.24

  • QuickFix now integrates with System Toolkit, allowing you to perform all of System Toolkit’s cache cleaning and rebuilding functions with one button press. This makes QuickFix even more useful as a one-button press way of resolving problems.
  • Housekeeper now uses Spotlight to locate additional FCPX libraries for rebuilding that exist outside of the usual locations.
  • Media Salvage now supports 32 kHz audio, QT Repair’s memory usage was improved and we updated Crash Analyzer definitions based on user-submitted logs.

Version 2.0.23

  • Supports Adobe cc 2014 and FCPX 10.1.2
