Redshift for Cinema 4D

Redshift is the world’s first fully GPU-accelerated, biased renderer built to meet the specific demands of contemporary high-end production rendering in C4D. Tailored to support creative individuals and studios of every size, Redshift offers a suite of powerful features and supports complex, advanced shading networks and texturing capabilities as required for production-quality rendering. Redshift has the features and uncompromising quality of a CPU renderer but at GPU rendering speeds.

** Redshift in Maxon One now supports all compatible hosts. Given these points, please refer to the System Requirements Tab for a full list of supported hosts.

ZBrush

ZBrush sets the industry standard for digital sculpting and painting. Its features enable you to use customizable brushes to shape, texture, and paint virtual clay in a real-time environment that provides instant feedback. When you use ZBrush you’ll be empowered by the same tools employed by film studios, game developers, toy/collectible makers, jewelry designers, automotive/aviation designers, illustrators, advertisers, scientists, and other artists the world over. In fact, we have even received an Academy Award for the technology that powers ZBrush.

In short, ZBrush is an art tool created by artists, for artists. It allows you to create models and illustrations limited only by your imagination, at a speed that allows you to stand out in today’s fast-paced industry.

Forger

Forger features an intuitive multi-touch interface and a large range of tools. So, you can start creating 3D models for films, and games, 3D print them, or even walk among them thanks to augmented reality. Whether you’re a professional working in filmmaking, game development, or character animation, or you’re just a budding young artist, Forger allows you to creatively explore and bring your ideas to life.

Although Cinema 4D supports all DirectX 12 feature level 11.0 or Metal GPUFamily1 v3-capable graphics cards, we recommend using a dedicated 3D graphics card with an AMD or NVIDIA chip set. For Intel GPUs we recommend 16 GB of RAM due to integrated GPUs using up to the half of the computer’s available RAM.

Maxon is not responsible for the compatibility of individual graphics cards with the DirectX 12, OpenCL or Metal mode. Due to the large number and types of available chip sets, operating systems and driver versions we cannot guarantee the compatibility of all systems.

Please make sure that you always use the most current official graphics card driver (no beta versions).

Important Notice from Maxon

We test the compatibility of our products with the driver and OS versions available at the time of the announcement of a new Cinema 4D release and focus on typical mid-range to high-end systems and basic coverage on low-end (min. requirements) systems. Additionally, we try to keep up with hardware, driver, and OS updates as soon as they are released.

Nevertheless, please understand that we cannot guarantee support of new hardware and operating systems shipped after the announcement of this Cinema 4D version.

The technical specifications of Maxon products are constantly changing. Please use the most current version of the software to test its compatibility on your computer (especially if you have a more elaborate configuration).

ZBrush System Requirements

ZBrush is available in the following languages: English, German, Spanish, Korean, Chinese, French, Japanese

ZBrush is available for both Windows and macOS platforms, and the licensing is dual platform so you can run on both or change between them at any time.

Thanks to its processor-based engine, ZBrush runs well on most modern computers regardless of their graphics cards.

A graphic tablet (such as from Wacom) is strongly recommended. It will give you more control and easier interaction.

Support now extends to include Apple M1 and M2 Silicon Graphics chip processing. Take advantage of the latest technology while working inside the world’s most powerful digital sculpting software.

WINDOWS

Highly recommended specifications:

  • OS: 64-bit editions of Windows 10 or 11.
  • CPU: Intel i7/i9/Xeon technology and newer or AMD Ryzen/Threadripper and newer.
  • RAM: 16 GB for working with multi-million poly models (32+ GB preferred.)
  • HDD: 100 GB of free hard drive space for ZBrush and its scratch disk. (SSD drive highly recommended.)
  • Pen Tablet: Compatible pressure-sensitive tablet from Wacom, XPen, XenceLabs, Huion, or other compatible pressure-sensitive tablets. (Must support WinTab API.)
  • Monitor: 1920×1080 monitor resolution or higher with 32-bit color.
  • Video card: Must support OpenGL 3.3 or higher and Vulkan 1.1 or higher.

Minimum specifications:

  • OS: 64-bit editions of Windows 10 or 11. (32-bit operating systems are no longer supported.)
  • CPU: Intel i7/i9 technology and newer or AMD Ryzen and newer.
  • RAM: 4 GB (6+ GB strongly recommended)
  • HDD: 8 GB of free hard drive space for ZBrush and its scratch disk.
  • Pen Tablet: Mouse or Wacom compatible (WinTab API) pen tablet.
  • Monitor: 1280×1024 monitor resolution with 32-bit color.
  • Video card: Must support OpenGL 3.3 or higher and Vulkan 1.1 or higher.

MAC

Highly recommended specifications:

  • OS: mac OSX: 11.5 or above.
  • CPU: Apple Silicon technology.
  • RAM: 16 GB is required for working with multi-million polys. (32+ GB preferred.)
  • HDD: 100GB of free hard drive space ZBrush and its scratch disk. (SSD drive highly recommended.)
  • Pen Tablet: Compatible pressure-sensitive tablet from Wacom, XPen, XenceLabs, Huion, or other compatible pressure-sensitive tablets.
  • Monitor: 1920×1080 monitor resolution or higher with millions of colors.
  • Video card: Must support OpenGL 3.3 or higher (Support now extends to include Apple M1 and M2 Silicon Graphics chip processing.)

Minimum specifications:

  • OS: mac OSX: 11.5 or above.
  • CPU: Intel i7/i9 technology or above.
  • RAM: 4 GB (6+ GB strongly recommended.)
  • HDD: 20 GB of free hard drive space for ZBrush and its scratch disk.
  • Pen Tablet: Mouse or compatible pressure-sensitive pen tablet.
  • Monitor: 1280×1024 monitor resolution with millions of colors.
  • Video card: Must support OpenGL 3.3 or higher (Support now extends to include Apple M1 and M2 Silicon Graphics chip processing.)

For customers wanting to use Redshift in ZBrush, macOS Big Sur (v11.5) is the minimum required version (see. RS system specs) that’s needed for execution. Older macOS version as suggested in our “Highly recommended specifications” will either not work reliably or not at all.

If you are looking for a computer optimized for ZBrush, these are the key elements to keep in mind:

  • ZBrush runs the same on Macintosh and Windows. Choosing one or the other is a personal choice.
  • A fast processor with multiple cores is a key item because ZBrush is only CPU-based. The more powerful, the better.
  • You must have enough memory to handle the system and other background applications in addition to ZBrush itself. If you intend to create complex models with many millions of polygons, aim for at least 16 GB of RAM and a 64-bit version of your OS.
  • ZBrush is highly optimized and writes a large number of temporary files to ensure fast performance. Depending on your model, this can quickly reach several GB of data. An SSD drive for ZBrush and its virtual memory files will provide the best results. You can save costs by having an additional mechanical drive to save your work.
  • A Wacom (or compatible) pen tablet with a preference for professional models will provide you a better accuracy in your brush strokes and increase the artist’s feeling. We do not recommend tablets based on N-Trig technology, which is an entirely different protocol and not fully compatible with ZBrush.
