RE:Vision Effects RE:Grade

Augment your color correction arsenal. Restore otherwise unusable footage.

RE:Vision Effects RE:Grade™ is the colorist’s go-to best friend, unlocking otherwise unreachable potential. With its unique features to manipulate saturation and exposure combined with reliable looks and multi-app workflow tools, including 3D LUT inversion support, graders can bring life even into videos deemed beyond repair!

RE:Vision Effects RE:Grade Highlights

RE:Grade includes a unique Automatic Contrast Enhancement (ACE) tool useful for difficult mixed-lighting or very uneven illumination situations (such as shooting against a window).

RE:Grade introduces a unique multi-resolution processing method with global contrast, local contrast, and per-pixel sharpness in a single tool, providing adjustment at different scales without creating artifacts such as halos, ringing, or clamping that other techniques can produce.  Useful for SDR to HDR processing to reveal details in shadows or handle extreme remapping of levels (due to incorrectly exposed areas or unknown log-like curves).

RE:Grade Overview

  • Automatically pull details out of the shadows, and make every pixel sharp without halos, clamping, or ringing.
  • Enhance contrast, saturation, and exposure.
  • Normalize your footage for final look correction, restore sanity in your color workflow

Color LUT handling in RE:Grade

Quick demo of how we support HALD Clut (3D color look-up images), save as 3D file LUT file. You can also use this to restore sanity in your multi-application workflow using the color look-up inversion feature.

Doesn’t my application do that?

Some videos with multiple issues can be quite complicated to just bring in the ballpark. For example, the video below, was shot with only moonlight before sunset with heavy atmospheric conditions.

RE:Vision Effects RE:Grade Features

  • Automatic contrast enhancement. Reveal invisible details out of the shadows, and make every pixel sharp without halos, clamping, or ringing.
  • Restore otherwise unusable footage. Restore contrast, and saturation, pull details out of really low-light or washed-out footage, and textures that you did not even know were in video.
  • Normalize. Prepare your footage for final look correction, and restore sanity in your color workflow.

Feature Specs

  • Semi-Automatic Enhancement. Control the automatic process that adjusts local contrast so every part of the image is clear, color is balanced, and saturation makes sense… so it looks like you want not just like the camera or software wants.
  • Look-up tables. Support for Hald Clut. Save as 3D LUT. Build libraries of color looks and use RE:Grade to normalize your footage so your CLUT makes sense.
  • Super sharp look. Unique multi-resolution processing method with global contrast, local contrast, and per-pixel sharpness in a single tool with controls allowing you to adjust at different scales.
  • Exposure Fusion. Tone mapping controls. Produce HDR-like effects.
  • Adjust/Correct Color. Handy inclusive mini-color corrector with color balance adjustment, support for HALD Clut, and CDL controls.
  • Color and Tone limiter. HLS controls limit to color, lightness, and saturation separately.
  • SDR to HDR secret ingredient. Reveal fine invisible details out of the dark areas of your image without creating a sea of noise or over-exposing your video. Shoot with 1-2 stops down to avoid clamping safely.
  • Blind handling of Log Curves. Drop flat, log footage of unknown origin, and apply RE:Grade Contrast. Adjust the head, middle-point, and tail of the non-linear transfer, and protect the highlights to avoid clamping (over-saturation).
  • Color Admin. Restore sanity in your multi-application workflow: Inverse 3D LUT using Hald Clut in and out. Generate reference CLUT image, send out, reimport, compute deviation from truth, and apply the inverse correction.
  • Attenuate color fringes. Get rid of these purple fringes and other optical/sensor over-saturation anomalies.
