Ready, Set, Glow!

The
poor, misunderstood Glow filter. It's designed to isolate lighter areas
of layers and give them a glowing effect, and it does that very well, but as Brian Maffitt explains in this clip from Total AE, the Glow filter
isn't designed to create a glowing aura around things like text. For an
effect like that, Photoshop's "Outer Glow" layer effect would be ideal,
but you don't have that option available inside After Effects. Or do you?
Brian knows all and shows all!
