‘The Lego Batman Movie’ uses an impressive style of animation that replicates the look of real lego bricks. But how did they do that?  Mike Seymour, with Wired, explains the complex animation techniques of a few of the key scenes that allowed the performance of the characters to come through without breaking the rules of real Lego bricks.

Wired states, "'The Lego Batman Movie' uses an impressive style of animation that replicates the look of real lego bricks. These digital bricks abide by all the rules of real Lego bricks, so they cannot bend or move in an impractical way.
