Based on Mocha’s Academy award-winning planar tracking technology, Mocha VR delivers an exemplary native 360° workflow developed to streamline complicated spherical video post-production. Fresh off winning a prestigious 2018 Advanced Imaging Society (AIS) Technology Award, the highly-anticipated release (5.6) adds a powerful new workflow to the groundbreaking plug-in, bringing stereo-optimized planar tracking, masking, horizon stabilization, and object removal tools to Adobe® Premiere Pro® CC and Adobe After Effects® CC.

Features

360° Planar Tracking

Mocha VR brings the power of Mocha to mono and stereo 360° video for immersive VR post-production. Robust planar tracking engine drives the workflow for advanced masking, graphics inserts, object removal and new reorient/horizon stabilization module.

Mocha VR includes all of Mocha Pro’s features for non-360 projects.

NEW! Stereoscopic 360° Tools

Mocha VR 5.6 now supports stereo workflows for footage shot with 3D 360° cameras such as Vuze, Kandao Obsidian, Samsung Round, Nokia Ozo, Z Cam, Google Jump and more.

Unique stereo workflow uses planar tracking analysis on “both eye views” to solve disparity, and reduce tedious duplication work on stereo rotoscoping, tracking, object removals and stabilization. Work on a “hero” master view, and track and roto corrections ripple to the other eye view for reduced manual keyframing. Render back to host or export stereo roto shapes back to a wide variety of host support including Adobe, Nuke and more.

As an integrated plug-in for hosts such as Adobe, Avid and OFX - Mocha VR adds a practical stereo - top/bottom workflow that does not require layer duplication or manual offsets. Supports common stereo formats: top/bottom, side/by side and multi-stream.

 

360° Object Removal

Remove camera rigs, shadows and unwanted pixels!

Mocha Pro’s famous Remove Module now works on 360° video by analyzing temporal frames and “automatically removing” unwanted for massive time-savings.

User generated Clean Plates can be linked for removing when clean pixels are not detected in the shot. Illumination filtering analyzes luminance shifts for proper lighting and scene compositing.

Horizon Stabilization & Reorient

Reduce shaky motion for improved VR headset viewing!

Designed to reduce unstable motion, the Reorient Module can drastically improve nausea-inducing VR experiences by smoothing or stabilizing shaky, handheld and drone captured footage. Driven by robust planar tracking, a user can even track and stabilize difficult and “out of focus” footage. Reorient on its own can be used to reposition equirectangular footage.

Lens Workflow for 360° Compositing

Plug-in based lens correction workflow converts between lat/long and rectilinear for a simple workflow to add titles, graphics, patches and non-360 enabled filters to your 360 project.

Patch and clone using this simple 360 video undistort technique in Adobe Premiere Pro.

Mocha VR 5.6 now also supports stereo undistort/distort workflow for nadir patching and object removals.

360° Masking Tools

Unlimited X-Spline tools for articulate shape creation and masking, saves hours of time versus traditional keyframing techniques. Roto-masks can be rendered back to host or exported to most editing and compositing systems including AE, Premiere, Flame, Nuke, Fusion and more.

For color correction and finishing Mocha VR’s masking is a massive timesaver.

Plug-in & Standalone Workflows

Running as a plug-in inside industry standard editing and effects applications Adobe Premiere Pro CC & After Effects CC, Avid Media Composer, Nuke, Fusion, Vegas Pro and HitFilm provides an immediate and accessible workflow for 360/VR post tasks.

What's new in mocha VR 5.6?

  • Stereo Support in the Plugin: Most of the plugins now support Stereo, Top/Bottom and Left/Right stereo views. AVX plugins support Top/Bottom and Left/Right.
  • Top/Bottom and Left/Right support in Standalone: the standalone version now supports Top/Bottom and Left/Right stereo modes
  • Plugin Auto-save: Plugin versions now save a backup of your file at intervals in just in case the host has a problem or you forget to save!

What's new in mocha VR 5.5.1?

  • Tracking search areas are optimized: mocha now adjusts the initial ‘Auto’ search area based on the image size. This also scales with proxies.
  • Rendering is faster in Media Composer: We have added several improvements to the AVX rendering speed and stability. See “Known Defects” for potential issues related to linked footage.
  • Reorient preview render is faster: Reorient preview speed should be increased significantly.
