Interview with Netflix’s Narcos: Mexico Editor Joaquin Elizondo + Podcast
Success Innovations is a show about professionals of Latin heritage. A few months ago, Lázaro Herrera interviewed Joaquin Elizondo, editor of Narcos and the owner/mentor of HollywoodEditingMentor.com. They have a podcast, as well. More about that below.
FROM TIJUANA…TO NETFLIX!!! Joaquin Elizondo
Joaquin Elizondo went from Tijuana, Mexico, to the University of Michigan. He talks about his early exposure to American media, then the culture shock and weather shock of Michigan. He made it through his college experience, where he studied Film & Video Editing and went on to a successful editing career in Los Angeles. Markedly, his credits include HBO Boxing, The Day I Met El Chapo: The Kate Del Castillo Story, Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Sports 2016, and of course, Narcos: Mexico.
In the interview, he talks about his career plan and the steps he took in his career to get where he is today! If you’re interested in upping your editor game, Joaquin has some fantastic advice.
Hollywood Editing Mentor Podcast
Joaquin Elizondo’s monthly podcast features interviews with editors and assistant editors about their careers. For example, they cover topics like creativity, taking risks, embracing mistakes, and more. By all means, take a listen!
