Midweek Motivation: Handel Eugene – Visual Storyteller

Handel Eugene is a multidisciplinary artist & animator who has created works for brands like Nike, Google, and Toyota as well as worked on Marvel’s Black Panther and Spiderman films.  His 2D artwork is amazing too.  Check out some of his work below and then head over to his website or Instagram to see more.

“The summer of 2017 Perception NY reached out on behalf of Marvel Studios to bring me on board for a high profile project they had in house. What would followed was the incredible opportunity to work on both the Prologue Sequence & the Main End Title Sequence for the film Black Panther. I was in charge of helping Perception create the previz animatic for the prologue sequence as well as assisting in 2D & 3D animation for the end title sequence.”

“For this project, I brought together 7 talented artists from across the US to join forces and put together this animation to celebrate & commemorate our Black Independence Day.”

“I had the opportunity to work on the 2012 Stand Up to Cancer show open package as well as their on and stage graphics.”

“I had the pleasure to work with Gunner Studios on the opening Titles for Blend Fest 2019… my primary responsibility was to figure out the Maya to C4D character animation pipeline. We took the Blend Fest Monster which was first animated in Maya & then brought it into Cinema through a streamlined alembic workflow. The challenging task on this project was for me to come up with a Cinema 4D facial rig that seamlessly attached to the Maya character animations. ”

About Handel Eugene

Handel Eugene is a Haitian American multidisciplinary artist & animator residing in Los Angeles California. He started his professional career in 2012 at We Are Royale, working on jobs for brands like Nike, Google, Toyota, Starbucks & more.

He has since gone freelance & has had the opportunity to work on location at places such as Facebook & Apple. Most notable are his recent contributions to Marvel’s Spiderman Homecoming & Black Panther Films. Handel continues to push the boundaries of his work as he progresses through his career; seeking new challenges on exciting new platforms such as VR, AR, & interactive technology.

Handel also serves in the education sector, currently teaching at Otis College of Art & Design as well as mentoring students online at Mograph Mentor.
