Midweek Motivations: Hue&Cry – Into the Flame + BTS
This animated short film is from director Sean McClintock and his team at the Richmond, Virginia-based Hue&Cry. I love the art style. The whole thing is very surreal. According to Stash, it took McClintock and his team two years to make the film, and it was In fact, as you can see by the still below, the film has been nominated or won several awards.
In the Stash article, “Into The Flame” Animated Short by Hue&Cry (Full Film) McClintock explains their Cinema 4D use in the animation.
We wanted to build an animation setup that would allow for us to easily make changes and have complete control over various aspects of the animation. Particle simulations were a little slow and hard to art direct, which led to us finding a clever use of Cinema 4D’s mograph tools to build and animate the swarm.
