Planning for the Demise of PostScript Fonts + Solutions

postscript type 1 fonts going extinct

Adobe ends ALL Support for PostScript Type 1 Fonts in January 2023. Adobe created the PostScript Type 1 font file type way back in 1984. It was useful because it could be used on both on computer screens and printers. Photoshop stopped support for PostScript with v23 with the October 2021 release.

After support ends in January 2023, you will no longer be able to use Type 1 fonts. Any Adobe files that use Type 1 fonts created before January 2023 will NOT be editable without replacing the font. If you open a project that uses PostScript fonts after January 2023 in newer Adobe apps, you will see a “Missing Font” error.
