Chris Schmidt from Greyscale Gorilla, was inspired by some gorgeous renders by Lee Griggs, and attempted to recreate rolling hills of geometry in C4D.  He didn't want to use MoGraph clones as the shear number needed would be overwelming.  So he set out to create a more procedural technique and came up with using the Hair Module.

Inspired by the practical exploding chalk effects used in the Semi-Permanent Sydney 2014 title, Claude Autret explained to Red Giant’s Aharon Rabinowitz how he attempted to remake some of the effects in After Effects using Trapcode Form.  Claude explains how he used a letter converted to a shape, to use only the outside stroke, as a layer map for Form, with really small particles, and then animate the displacement and dispersion so it explodes towards the camera.

Arvid Schneider posted this great 2 part tutorial about setting up your render settings in VRay to get the most of its render passes system. Part 1 will show you how to uses the Extra Tex passes Node to create custom render layers, for instance an ambient occlusion pass built in the multichannel exr file.  Furthermore it will explain why passes are a must have in todays 3D and VFX (Visual Effects) scene. Part 2 will guide you through the actual compositing of the rendered passes. It shows you how to set up a simple Node tree for simple composting, and also a more advanced node tree for maximum customizability.  In the end you will be shown how the final rendered scene was set up, and what tricks and tips were used.
