QC Integration is not just another effect-plugin for Final Cut Pro and Motion. QC Integration is much more. This package is a new and easy to use platform to integrate any Quartz Composer composition as a plugin directly into Final Cut Pro and Motion.

QC Integration already includes 52 Quartz Composer compositions, all fully usable as high quality visual effects plugins for Final Cut Pro and Motion.

Each Quartz Composer composition shows up in Final Cut Pro and Motion as a Video Filter, Video Generator or Video Transition. With CHV's QC Integration package you can easily create new plugins (Quartz Composer compositions) for Final Cut Pro and Motion, modify existing ones and use any other Quartz Composer compositions you can find i.e. on the internet as a Final Cut Pro and Motion plugin.

What is Quartz Composer ?

The Apple Mac OSX operating system includes a large number of image- and video-editing functions, better known as Core Image and Core Video. The Developer package from Apple, which is included on the OSX installation discs, holds a number of applications that make these hidden functions directly available to the user. One of these applications is called Quartz Composer. Note: You need to install the Developer package from the OSX installation disc in order to install Quartz Composer.

Quartz Composer displays the Core Image and Code Video functions as patches with input and output ports. You can "play" with those functions in a very easy-to-use way, assemble the patches on a canvas and connect their inputs and outputs with each other. A preview window shows you directly the final effect you are working on. Additionally you can publish the input ports of the patches. With CHV's QC Integration package these published input ports will show up inside Final Cut Pro and Motion as parameters which you can use to control your video effect.

What's inside the QC Integration package

The CHV's QC Integration package includes the plugin which does the actual integration work, the Import tool, a Developer Tool and a large number of Quartz Composer compositions.

• QC Integration plugin - This application (a FxPlug plugin) does the actual work and integrates Quartz Composer compositions from three folders as Video Filters, Video Transitions and Video Generators into Final Cut Pro and Motion.
• Lots of ready-to-use Quartz Composer compositions - Each composition shows up in Final Cut Pro and Motion as a Video Filter, Video Generator or Video Transition.
• Import QC compositions - This tool makes the QC Integration plugin aware of newly added Quartz Composer compositions with the click of just one button.
• QC Developer Tool - The QC Developer Tool enables you to sell and make money from your own Quartz Composer compositions. The QC Developer Tool encrypts your compositions in order to prevent others to be able to open and edit them. Encrypted compositions are usable with the QC Integration plugin and show a watermark (demo imprint) on screen when used with Final Cut Pro and Motion. This watermark is your protection and enables your customers to preview your composition. When your customer decides to buy a license, which will remove the watermark, he just needs to send you the MAC address of his computer. You can then create and send a keyfile for your customer with the QC Developer Tool, which will remove the watermark.

Plug-in controls

Each plugin (Quartz Composer composition) holds a standard set of controls on top of its parameters list.

• Timebase FPS - With these two parameters you need to tell the plugins the current framerate of your sequence. The pull-down menu provides you with a set of standard framerates. In manual mode you can define the framerate freely. You can also use FPS slider in the manual mode to speed up or slow down a specific effect.
• Anti-Aliasing - QC Integration is the only Quartz Composer related plugin package for Final Cut Pro and Motion that fully supports anti-aliasing.
• Aspect Ratio - Use this control to change the pixel aspect ratio.
