Description
Use Keylight to create high-quality mattes, and work with other advanced tools such as the Matte Choker and the Spill Suppressor. Keylight is a blue and green screen keyer, for Autodesk's Combustion and Adobe's After Effects Standard Edition desktop software. This release extends this acclaimed and hugely popular keying technology to the global After Effects and Combustion communities, delivering a powerful new toolset for the creation of quality visual effects.
Keylight is easy to use, and is highly effective at tackling shots in which it is problematic to pull a clean key, particularly shots featuring hair, reflections and semi-transparent areas. Spill suppression is built-in, meaning that selection of the screen colour is often all that is needed for the user to pull a perfect matte and allow effects elements to be seamlessly seated together and to look genuinely photographed. Its ease of use, and ability to tackle difficult footage via an array of built-in tools, has earned Keylight an enviable reputation, and established it as a favourite with visual effects facilities and artists across the world.
Keylight is an Academy Award winning keyer. It is simple to use and is particularly good at tackling reflections, semi-transparent areas and hair. Because spill suppression is built-in, often selecting the screen colour is all you need to do to pull the matte and seat the foreground into the background so it looks photographed rather than composited. Keylight is available as a free upgrade for After Effects 7.0 Professional users or can be purchased for use with After Effects 7.0 Standard. Keylight is fully floating point for use in 32 bpc projects and comes with a suite of tools to erode, soften, despot and otherwise manipulate the matte should the need arise. Inside and outside masks are supported. Separate colour correction, suppression and edge correction tools are also included to fine tune the result.

User Reviews
- "Keylight is just wonderful...I used it effectively on a seven second shot that had people with frilly hair over a fairly flat beige-cream background...and darned if it isn't pulling a clean matte. Thanks for making After Effects just that much more valuable with your product!" - J C Burns, John Christopher Burns Design.
- "I just got some DV footage in, and between the Magic Bullet de-artifactor and Keylight, I got a near perfect (well, as good as it gets with DV...) result with a little bit of tweaking. Really impressive. I don't think I ever got a DV key to look this good, in such short time. No fluttering edges, nice transparencies, the works." - Barend Onneweer.
- "Yes, Keylight is outstanding - a really terrific addition to the tool set. It's fast, accurate, and offers a ton of different ways to correct bad keys." - Brian Maffitt, Total Training.
- "...powerful edge tools that are missing in most keyers." - Kurt Wiley *Keylight has been used on scores of films including: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Die Another Day, Blade 2, Resident Evil, Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone, the Beach, Notting Hill, Sleepy Hollow, Chicken Run, Lost in Space, The Hudsucker Proxy, The Truman Show, Armaggeddon, The Big Lebowski, Mission Impossible, Last Action Hero, The Saint, Strange Days, Little Buddha, Waterworld, The Quick and the Dead and many, many more.
