Maxon Cinema R21 Subscription & Perpetual License Pricing FAQ

With all of the excitement around the release of Cinema 4D R21, we’ve had a lot of questions about subscription pricing, MSAs, and upgrades, so we’re going to hopefully answer all of your questions here.

I have an active MSA. What are my choices?

If you have an MSA that expires between now and August 31, 2020, you have can opt for a 2-year or a 1-year subscription.

Convert your perpetual license to a 2-year subscription

Pro: This option will save you 20%. Subscriptions include Cineversity.

Con: You will no longer have a perpetual license.

If your MSA has already been renewed, you can convert the months left on your MSA for a discount, so you do not lose any money. The table below does not include any discounts for what is left on your MSA. Please contact us for information on that.

Buy an annual (1-year) subscription.

A less expensive option and less of a commitment is a one-year subscription. This cost is about equivalent to the cost of renewing your MSA and you can keep your current perpetual license.

What are the options for new customers or someone with an expired MSA?

If you’re new or you do not have an active MSA, you have a couple of options.

Buy a Cinema 4D Subscription

If you subscribe, you can keep your current perpetual license too. For additional quantities or for Floating or RLM, please contact us for a custom quote.

Buy a Perpetual License

If you don’t want a subscription, you have the option to buy an R21 Perpetual license. This license will not expire and you can keep using this version as long as you are able to.

Perpetual License Pricing (September 2019)

• Cinema 4D R21 Perpetual License – $3,495 USD

Buy an Upgrade for a Perpetual License

If you own Cinema 4D R17, R18, R19, and R20 and do not have an MSA, you can upgrade to an R21 Perpetual license.

• Contact us for upgrade pricing. We can’t advertise the pricing but there are options.

There are a few things to note here.

• There are no more MSAs.
• Perpetual licenses do not include Cineversity.
• We don’t know if perpetual licenses will be available for R22.

Are Floating Licenses still available?

Yes, but we are not allowed to publish them on our website. Please contact us for Floating License pricing.

Is Redshift included with a Subscription or Perpetual license?

Redshift is not included. It can be purchased with a perpetual license or with a Cinema 4D subscription.
