New/Update: FilmConvert Halation Add-on for Nitrate is Now Available

filmconvert halation

FilmConvert has announced that Halation is now available for FilmCovert Nitrate.  It’s an add-on that creates halation, that bit of fuzziness around bright areas in images shot on film.

FilmConvert Nitrate is proud to present: Halation!

“We’re excited to announce that Halation is now available for FilmConvert Nitrate! Purchase your halation add-on for Nitrate licenses for $49 this Black Friday, or add halation to any new FilmConvert Nitrate license purchase.

We’ve been working hard to create truly authentic halation, which accurately mimics how halation occurs on film. We’ve meticulously traced the light coming through in your image to determine where halation should occur and how it affects your image to create an effect that is seamless and beautiful.

Our primary controls allow you to adjust the sensitivity, strength, hue, and softness of the halation, alongside a halation map to accurately see where halation occurs in your image. Using these controls can give your image a nice and subtle halation effect, adding to the innate softness that comes from shooting film.

You can then dive further into our additional controls to refine your desired look. Control how the halation reacts in your highlights, alongside the brightness and spread of the overall effect. You can even adjust the saturation down to zero for a simple bloom effect. ”
