10 Free: Medical, Anatomy, and Science 3D Models & AE Projects

Medical and science animations have become wildly popular in the last month. Today we’re featuring a collection of free medical, anatomy and science models and projects from around the web. Many are for Cinema 4D, but some will work with any 3D application. There are also a couple of After Effects projects here to keep things interesting. All are free for personal or commercial use, unless otherwise noted. You can’t redistribute them, obviously. Enjoy!

1 Human Brain Model

What it is: Download a Cinema 4D model from Alessandro Boncio from Renderking.it, shared by The Pixel Lab. It’s textured in Octane but only a single texture. In other words, you can easily swap it with a texture of your choice.

2 Medical 3D Models from Artec Scans

What it is: Download 3D models that were scanned using Artec 3D technology. There is an arm, eye, ear, hand, infant skull, plaster cast of teeth, and more.

Compatibility: Varies: PLY, WRL OBJ, STL

3 CG Traders 3D Models

What it is: A nice mix of free (and premium) models including a medical cart, a heart, syringe, a wheel chair, a stethoscope, pills, a microscope, and more.

Compatibility: Available in a variety of file formats including MAX, OBJ, FBX, 3DS, STL, C4D, BLEND, MA, MB

4 Medical Animation Project

What it is: Cinema 4D project file created by Don Ross, a former ER doctor. This is being shared by The Pixel Lab.

There are files for ATP Synthase, 3 Cell Receptor variations, G Protein Coupled Receptors, Nuclear Pore Complex and a Synaptic Transmission project file. The .zip includes all the Cinema 4D project files including textures and all are pre-animated.

5 C4D Virus Project from CG Shortcuts

What it is: Dave Bergin at CG Shortcuts has tutorial/project files on creating a virus in Cinema 4D. To clarify, he uses the Moextrude and the Jiggle deformer to create the virus.
