Update: Adobe After Effects 23.4 – May 2023 Release
The May 2023 (23.4) release of Adobe After Effects is chock full of improvements. Check out the new Properties panel, the Effect Manager, and Startup and Repair in Preferences. In addition, the After Effects team has improved file sorting and added 3D Gizmo position snapping. The Track Matte pick whip icon was revamped, and they’ve added new format support. And there are the usual performance improvements you’d expect. Plus, the beta includes Light and Camera Extraction from 3D Models.
If you’re an After Effect or Adobe Creative Cloud subscriber, simply open the Adobe Creative Cloud app to update.

Properties panel for Text and Shape layers
Stay in your creative flow by selecting animation options for Text and Shape layers in one easy-to-access panel without losing time to complex layer navigation and property twirling.
Effect Manager
Manage your effects more efficiently by enabling or disabling them from a simple interface. Troubleshoot potential workflow issues and deliver your projects on time.
Startup and Repair in Preferences
Quickly diagnose and troubleshoot problems by resetting preferences, media cache, plug-in cache, or bypassing third-party plug-ins.
Improved file sorting in the Project panel
Sort your files in the Project panel using a more natural and logical method, even files with names that have numeric characters.
3D Gizmo position snapping
Snap layers in 3D space while dragging the constrained X, Y, and Z position handles of the 3D Gizmo.
Revamped Track Matte pick whip icon
A different pick whip Icon for Selectable Track Matte to reduce confusion with Parent & Link pick whip icon.
Support for new formats
After Effects now offers support for the footage shot on Sony VENICE 2 V2.00 and on iPhones in Cinematic mode.
Currently in Beta: Light and Camera Extraction from 3D Models
Extract cameras and lights from GLB and GLTF models to create layers based on the camera and light data in the imported 3D scene.
