The Results are IN! See the Winners of the Toolfarm Plugin Awards 2020

Thank you to everyone who voted in our poll for the Toolfarm Plugin Awards 2020. We re-branded it a bit this year. Instead of the Toolfarm Top 10, it’s the Toolfarm Plugin Awards. And, I’m happy to report that we had a record-breaking turn out with more than TRIPLE the number of votes of last year. That’s pretty exciting!

We will be contacting the winners of the prizes from Toolfarm and Bounce Color this week! The prizes are at the bottom of this page if you want to see them.

Without further ado, the Winners of the Toolfarm Plugin Awards 2020!

Favorite Roto & Tracking Tool

This was a big category with several write-in nominations, but, winning by just over 50% of the vote is Boris Mocha!

Winner: Boris Mocha Pro

Mocha Pro has been a fan favorite for quite a few years. Last year, Mocha won for Favorite Roto & Tracking Tool. In 2018 Mocha was also in the Toolfarm Top 10 for Favorite After Effects plugin.

Runner up: Adobe After Effects CC

Favorite 3D Modeling, Painting, or Sculpting Software

This is a pretty broad topic, but The Golden Globes have a category for Best Musical or Comedy, so we figured it’s okay.

Winner: Maxon Cinema 4D

People are passionate about their 3D software! Cinema 4D won with close to 50% of the vote. What’s interesting is that they received the exact same percentage of the vote as 2019!

Runner up: Blender

Favorite Non-Linear Editor

This was a popular category that had the most votes. It was a tight race between 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place, but Premiere Pro took 56% of the vote this year!

Winner: Adobe Premiere Pro

Last year Premiere had slightly more of the vote, but only by a percentage point. As we’ve seen in Senate races, even a tenth of a percent can make a difference! Congrats to Adobe on their big win!

Runner up: Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve Studio

Favorite Audio Plugin

Our selection of Audio plugins and tools grew exponentially, as did the number of customers buying audio plugins. Last year, we had a slightly different category for audio, Favorite Audio Plugin Developer. iZotope took almost 60% of the vote. Avid took second place. This year, we narrowed it down to specific audio plugins, as we do with other products. Because there are so many audio plugins, the pie was really divided up. The biggest piece, though, goes to iZotope RX, with over 32% of the vote.

Winner: iZotope RX

Runner up: iZotope Ozone

Favorite Chroma Keying Tools for Video

This was a surprisingly tight race this year, with Adobe After Effects CC claiming the top spot and Boris Continuum Primatte Studio took second. Hawaiki Keyer also made a robust showing.

Winner: Adobe After Effects CC

Last year, Adobe After Effects CC had an even larger slice of the pie, with Red Giant VFX Primatte Keyer in second place, and The Foundry’s Nuke in third place. Congrats once again to Adobe.

Runner up: Boris Continuum Primatte Studio

Favorite 3D Renderer

This race was tight for second but for first place, there was a clear winner – Redshift! Redshift took over 1/3 of the votes. Octane Render, Arnold Render, Renderman, and V-Ray duked it out for a second-place title, with Octane receiving the second most votes. Last year’s results were virtually the same.

Winner: Redshift

Runner up: Octane Render

Favorite Bundle (VFX, 3D, Audio)

Adobe Creative Cloud took almost a third of the votes this year, with second place going to Boris Continuum. Last year was a much closer race with Adobe Creative Cloud and Sapphire tying for the title. Congrats again to Adobe. The Adobe fans really showed up at the polls this year!

Runner up: Boris Continuum

Favorite AR/VR/360° Tool

Again, Adobe Creative Cloud took the title! Second place goes to Boris Mocha VR, and third to Kubity 3D Suite. Last year was a completely different race with Mettle Mantra winning the prize.

Favorite Color Grading and Finishing Tool

DaVinci Resolve took almost 45% of the votes this year! Second place goes to Red Giant Magic Bullet Suite. Last year had the same results. As you may know, Toolfarm is the only place where you can get Resolve as a download, and that has been EXTREMELY popular. So popular, in fact, that we often have a tough time keeping it in stock. You may wonder why we have a tough time keeping downloads in stock, but we get the serial numbers from Blackmagic on cards. Anyway… DaVinci Resolve wins! Congrats to Blackmagic Design.

Runner up: Red Giant Magic Bullet Suite

Favorite Particle or Fluid Generating VFX Tool

This year, Red Giant Trapcode Suite wins! It was a tight race with Boris Continuum Particle Illusion in second, only 3 points behind. In third, INYSDIUM X-Particles. Last year, Particular also won first place, but X-Particles and Houdini tied for second place.
