Getting Started with Red Giant Geo (2 Parts)
In this duo of tutorials, Chad Perkins walks you through the basics of Red Giant Geo in these two tutorials. Geo, a groundbreaking new tool for After Effects, allows artists to quickly texture, light, and clone 3D objects.

Getting Started with Red Giant Geo, Part 1
First, Chad shows you how to create a rock, starting with a basic shape. He generates a texture with fractal noise in After Effects with some tint. In the second project, he brings in a cellphone model and texturizes it, modifying the environment map for reflections. Note: HDRIs suported. After that, he dives into the cloner to create copies of the 3D phone. Finally, he shows the Shadow Catcher, cast from an adorable robot.
Getting Started with Red Giant Geo, Part 2
In part 2, Chad talks about texturing glass. He gives several workflow tips for Geo as well. Learn more about using the clone feature and randomizing the settings for natural variation, creating a 3D asteroid field. You’ll want to bookmark this video, as Chad covers troubleshooting some common render issues. Finally, he talks about depth map settings.
