spooky scene redshift workflows

Join ZBrush environment artist and instructor Rodolfo Silva and Maxon Master Trainer Dustin Valkema for a new four-part spooky webinar series leading you through an entire workflow for a Halloween-inspired scene.

Using a combination of ZBrush, Substance, Cinema 4D, and Redshift, you’ll learn how to sculpt, texture, light, and render an entire scene, as well as pick up essential tips for working efficiently and developing the look and atmosphere of your environment.

The final episode airs on October 30!

DPP: Spooky Scene Workflows – Week 1

Week 1 – Mon 9th Oct 2023 – 9 am PDT / 5 pm BST / 6 pm CEST

Learn how to block out a ZBrush scene using simple shapes, and then add complexity with intuitive and efficient steps. You’ll also learn essential tips that will speed up your ZBrush workflows and enhance the way you creatively navigate ZBrush.

Rodolfo will showcase his blockout process, modeling the biggest elements of a scene using multiple nondestructive tools in ZBrush. He’ll cover Dynamic Subdiv, Gizmo Deformers, LiveBooleans, ArrayMesh, Masking techniques, and Surface Noise, showing how to iterate on the design and overall shapes of your models for environment design.

DPP: Spooky Scene Redshift Workflows – Week 2

Week 2 (Detailing & Props) Mon 16th October – 9 am PDT / 5 pm BST / 6 pm CEST

Rodolfo will show a variety of ways to add details in ZBrush. You’ll learn how to create amazing scenes using only a few models, and how to scatter them throughout the environment. He’ll continue his breakdown of the Halloween-themed environment by showing you IMM, Uving, and decimation workflows to easily generate secondary details such as the cobblestone path, wooden fence, tombstones & door framing.

Covered in this video

  • Making IMM brushes for prop scattering (Skull candles and Tombstones)
  • UVing and Decimation workflows for use as IMM brushes
  • Making the cobblestone path, fence, and Door framing with IMM Curve brushes in conjunction with ZSpheres and Curve functions.

DPP: Spooky Scene Redshift Workflows – Week 3

Aired Oct 23, 2023 – 9 am PDT / 5 pm BST / 6 pm CEST

Week 3 – ZBrush – Substance – ZBrush IMM Rodolfo will share his ZBrush-to-Substance texturing workflow, giving key advice and creative options for pipelines, and texturing the final prop in Adobe Substance Painter. Once complete, he’ll hand the scene off to Dustin, who’ll use Cinema 4D and Redshift to finalize the composition and set up the base lighting of the scene.

  • Making a simple Tombstone model in ZBrush, texturing and baking in Substance, and bringing it back to ZBrush for use as an IMM.
  • Building the final scene composition in Cinema 4D, discussing camera angles, focal lengths, and lighting setup to get the scene looking spooky!
