Fractured Ice Surface Tutorial – What’s Kraken?
Hashi has a new tutorial showing how to create a Kraken coming through the ice on a frozen river. He talks about the Red Giant VFX Lens Distortion Matcher plugin in the latest release of Red Giant VFX Suite 1.5. I love Hashi’s tutorials, as they’re always clear and a lot of fun. He uses Voronoi Physics in Maxon Cinema 4D S22 to fracture the ice. In addition, he uses RE:Vision Effects ReelSmart Motion Blur Pro so the composite looks natural. Then, he uses Red Giant VFX Reflection for natural-looking reflections.
The other tutorial he refers to is 3D Normalization in After Effects. There’s a free script to download and a tutorial to go along with it.
